Re: Welcome to the Marching Band Forum

I would like to see bands from Oswego county showcased as well as those in Onondaga county. Those of us living in Oswego still watch the news and attend the band shows each week-it would be nice to see Oswego and Phoenix bands.

    Central Square & WIXT 9

First I would like to give kudos toWSYR9 for being the local news group to go out there and recognize these bands and all their hardwork (just as deserved as sports).

Second I would like to congratulate Mr. Haldeman and his team for the changes you have put in motion (new uniforms, new instruments and the cadet junior guard program in the middle school). It looks like the band is back after a 4 year hiatus. The sound is great!  It's early in the year so I remember the work to be done, so I know those lines will be perfect by dome day. We look forward to cheering you on there.

Good luck in the weeks to come.

Re: Welcome to the Marching Band Forum

I marched with the Gauchos Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps for many years in the 1970's and loved it very much.  I would love to go to a marching band show. Where would I go to get a schedule of all the shows, with places and times.

I haven't. They are usually on before us. But from what I've heard, they have a awesome show this year.
Congrats Auburn though for winning at their Homeshow last night!

    ... And since I'm here: Let's go C-Square!!!

Wow, I remember the Gauchos!  That is awesome!  Somewhere I have some home movie footage of them at one of the North Syracuse Lions Festivals doing an exhibition performance on the field.   Hope you find a schedule of the shows at http://www.nysfbc.org and that you make it to the shows!

Ditto to all.  I don't know about the 4 year hiatus  The music selection is exceptional and the kids are working their butts off.  What a committed group of kids.  They have energy, spark and elicit emotion from the crowd, whether they're from Central Square or not.  We're so proud of them all.  The show gets better every week.  Look out Dome. . .  the Redhawks are commin'!

Re: Welcome to the Marching Band Forum

Loved Auburn's Rock& Roll shows the past couple of years.  Not so crazy about the macabre theme this year.  The drill is great; colorguard shines, just don't care for the Halloween-type theme.  That's the time we go get our snacks.

Re: small school coverage especially central square

i live in west monroe, but i am connected to the central square band. I have a daughter in the band, and they are current ly undefeated in all of the competitions to date. I  wish that newschannel 9 would go to these competitions and film them for the news casts. When are they going to cover these bands ?I guess only when its the dome show. Pity, these kids work their butts off for the competitions and get no recognition. All the big schools get coverage, and nothing for the smaller schools, hey channel 9, cover the small schools, they deserve the same recognition as the bigger schools. Great website, but more coverage for the small schools on your news casts.
