Re: Pet Food Recall/Sick Pets
in regards to the anonymous post (if your going to continue to post here, have some courtesy and get a name) about buying cheap food. so you would imply that when taco bell had the ecoli scare, only mexicans would have gotten it? come on, have some common sence, one food vs. another. put it on your self, did you guy your kids the most expensive baby food, or the name brand stuff? why is money such a concern with you people, oh the more expensive stuff is always better, not always, remember, some of those products are made by the same people over seas, one just has a name brand. i agree something should have been said a while ago, however, as much as your pet was loved, don't go out thinking your going to get millions of dollars for your cat or dog. thats like your dog running out in front of my car, if i hit your dog (which please believe, i'm not about to try and try and reclessly go around because you forgot to keep a leash on your animal and risk hitting a person) and the damage my jeep, and i decide to sue you for millions because your damaged or totalled my car, i mean, i love my car (and according to the law, if your dog was in the street and i hit it, and i wrecked, you would be responsible for all the repairs and any medical expenses, plus any civil suites filed. just remember, lifes not about all this money. people are to greedy. i'm sorry your dog died, but don't be like those people who lose a loved one 20 years ago and still *** about it. i'm sorry for the death, celebrate the life and move on.

Re: Pet Food Recall/Sick Pets
Anonymous:4-3-07 From news on web site 9 news
" The imported product was only minimally labeled but apparently
went only to pet food producers. The FDA considers the contamination an
aberration since wheat gluten generally is not considered a product at
risk for contamination. "
This is interesting. There was a report on this particular shipment
of wheat gluten that was labeled
" NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION ", so someone
thought that meant that it was O.K. for this product to be sent to the
pet food people. That " SOMEONE ", I would have to suspect, was
" SOMEONE " from the good old U.S.A. I would love to be enlightened.
How many pets do you think are in China? Do you think that many dogs
and cats alike are on the menu for people over there? They just do
not have the same outlook on life as we do. Does this mean that we
should invade? What if these Asian Countries decide that shipping
nuclear waste in " gluten " type food stuffs is a grand way of getting
rid of that crap and hurting the American pubic at the same time? What
are the reports out of Canada on this subject? Are the pets up there
hurting and dieing as well?
As mentioned before, we now make our own cat food for our special
needs animals. It is done with out a lot of time invested. We have to
protect our selves at all times these days. The cost of pet food has
been cut in half. Sounds like many benifits to this course of action.
Quality in and quality out at half the cost. This contamination could
have come from poor cleaning of cargo holds from Aisan ports. This is
not something new. Right here in the good ol U.S.this has happened in
road transport tankers and such. Gluten, as a product, is not
recomended for the digestive tract of your pets - period. Ask your Vet.
We had two of our special needs animals blood tested for renal failure
as recomended the other day and came back O.K. We had been feeding the
higher end pet food products listed on the recall list.
Reacting in a positive way.
Anonymous:So sorry your cat died. This situation makes
me more PO'd every day. We need to step up and be a voice for these
poor, suffering animals. I heard today that the wheat gluten in
question, may be in human food as well!!! Will this nightmare ever
end??? I wonder how many animals and humans have to die to get these
things changed??? There are some sad people out there, that dont care
about what happens to animals. Some times I really wonder, if importing
products from other countries is a good idea.Seems like other countries
hate America.I suppose they know we love our animals, they know it would
hurt us bad,if they poisoned our animals.JMO

You might want to specify which post you are referring to here. There
are several anonymous posts here; they are not all from the same
person.
People lost their beloved pets. There's no need for sarcasm here. Your comments were unnecessary.

Re: Pet Food Recall/Sick Pets
I think it would be a bit premature, to invade another country over
this incident. I guess the U.S. government needs to rethink, buying any
food products from any other country. They're setting us up for major
problems. Some of these other countries are barbaric and yes they do eat
animals, that we consider domesticated. My first thought was
terrorism.Alot of other pet owners have told me they thought the same.
Its not that far of a stretch, when you think about it. I just hope its
over soon. I have been physically ill with worry. My animals are
my life. I have cats and dogs. I have several special needs cats.My
animals are my everything and mean the world to me.

Re: Pet Food Recall/Sick Pets
You are confused. Do your own fact finding and then respond and atempt to educate. I am not a lawyer. If I was a lawyer, why would I attempt to discourage law suits? I am sypathetic to the individuals and families alike who have suffered as a result of this tragic event. I do have animals as pets and many of them. As mentioned before, pets as a whole, are concidered property items."People have a right, to fair compensation for what they've been put through!!!" If someone kicks your car - puts a huge dent in your driver side door - you have a witness that will go to court in your behalf, you may get a settlement for the repair but it would be doubtfull if you could claim loss of sleep or other personal suffering. It is just a car or property that you own.
You need to be able to work through the emotional stuff before you can be able to muck through the litigation process. Stick to the facts and make sure you can provide a good solid case, after all, in the end we all want to make things right.
I would love to hear about what you have discovered on your fact finding journey so this may become an educational process.
Anonymous:Jeez, you sound like a lawyer. Maybe your reason for discouraging these law suits, is because you work for one of these worthless companies???? People have a right, to fair compensation for what they've been put through!!! Do you even have a pet??? Dont think so,if you did you would have been a little more sympathetic to peoples suffering. Maybe you should go play somewhere else.

Re: Pet Food Recall/Sick Pets
I didn't mean to seem harsh. I do get emotional when it comes to
animals. It really makes me mad, when we cant even have trust
in the companies that supply our pet food and human food.
Somebody really dropped the ball on this one. I spend $ 500 dollars a
month on pet food. It would be nice to think, when you spend that much
money, you'll get quality products. It has gotten to the point that you
really have to be careful, there's always some kind of recall be it pet
food, human food, appliances ,etc, etc, etc. What ever happened to
quality??? I just hope its over soon. I still agree with the class
action law suits. Maybe it'll teach them a lesson LOL!!!

Re: Pet Food Recall/Sick Pets
i may have been alittle sarcastic, but i am not sorry, why should i be politically correct? mind you i love animals just as much as the next guy, but i was trying to prove a point. as for the money, its not about money to me, but to those people who lost thier pet, and are asking for millions of dollars, please come on, its one of the reasons people won't do anything in this country, because they are affraid of getting sued. come on people, the news said that only a handful of pets deaths were CONFIRMED to the bad food (they did expect that number to go up) am i saying you aren't entitled to some form of compensation, no, but not millions of dollars, maybe a few thousand dollars if that, and get a new pet.
forgive me for sounding rude, but i speak my mind, something everyone should practice.
hate me if you want to, but thank america for the right to hate me.
wake up america!

Re: Pet Food Recall/Sick Pets
You should speak you mind and I see and agree with your point of compensation. Thank god we don't live in a dictatorship where you CAN speak your mind.

Either the station is letting these spammers in or they have a trick to block the abuse report option.
I think the moderator should pay closer attention. If they have to block the http. then none of us may be able to post a website link for others. You'd think they would have had something in place from the beginning...
