    nancdc --

Contact the New York Attorney General's Office --we do have their "ear" in our quest to receive monies owed us.  All the information is on this website.

I am convinced that the only way to get resolution is to keep the heat on this company through legitimate complaints to the Attorney General who is now aware of this fraudulent company.

    Good luck

Re: Waiting On T.W. Conroy Auction Company

TW Conroy and My Sister the Lister picked up 6 valuable antique items and hundreds of collectibles from my home on Sept 20, 2006.  I heard nothing for many months and did not follow up very well because I was in the midst of moving and selling my home and putting everything in storage.  Finally, after much nagging on my part, I received a check dated 2/16/07 which was returned to my account with "do not redeposit" "account closed" on it.  Again, after much effort on my part, I received a valid check some months later.

I never heard from them as to the status of the antiques until again, after countless e-mails and phone calls, they gave me the amount I was to receive.  They kept promising checks, which never came.  Finally, in late Sept. 2007, one year after they took my items, in an effort to get my money before moving to California, I drove all the way to their offices to pick up "my check."  This check (for nearly $3,000) was also returned marked "account closed."  On the statement that came with the second bad check, there were also 4 antique wrought iron pillars not accounted for.  This check amount is far less than anticipated, but how can you check to see what things were actually sold for? I have been promised new checks for months since then and been lied to and given every excuse imaginable for their bad business practices.  I have contacted the BBB and gotten no results and now am waiting for a complaint form to come in the mail from the NYS Attorney General's Office.  I can't believe that this company was referred to me by a respected real estate person!  Do not do business with TWConroy!

Re: Waiting On T.W. Conroy Auction Company

I attend auction's regularly and I will never forget the one auction I attended that was hosted by Conroy when he was located in his large building in B'ville.  I had never been or since been to an auction, where not only did they have people taking phone bids and left bids, but people were sitting in the balcony doing the bidding via the internet.  Needless to say a large majority of the winnings bids on this particular day went to the people covering the phone bidding or the internet bidding.  The bids were extremely high and needless to say, I felt then that something didn't seem right about the whole thing.  I can see now, that my suspicions  were accurate after all the problems people have had with his gentlemen.  He should be banned from providing any type of service to the public and along with having to pay back the money he owes his customers, he should have to perform some type of community service.  What he did is no better then the contractor who takes the money for a roofing job and then skips town.  Makes it very difficult to trust anybody these days.

Re: Waiting On T.W. Conroy Auction Company

Of course we care....we care because these folks are still practicing business in an unethical way. I for one is yet another. I am a professional art dealer who have bought well and successfully form them for the last few years. I bought an estate and thought of them to liquidate some of the material to raise some cash/get back part of my investment. I send them 40 pieces - mainly original prints, drawinsg and watercolros. I have proof that I sent it. I have proff that they recieved it. But when I inquired about when the items would come up or when I was going to get an officla receipt from them....let me see, how many e-mails? How many telephone calls? Three certified letters? That was 10 months agao. Either they are so disorganized or really stupid because if this continues, their rep will be irreparably damaged and they will cease to exist..... I give them two years.

Re: Waiting On T.W. Conroy Auction Company

I too am waiting payment from T.W. Conroy.  An employee of the company got conscending with me last Thursday on the phone and i got mad.  I googled TW and what did I find but more people with my problem.  Thank you for being there.  I need help to get my money from them or my items back.  If any of you have any advise I will take it.

I took 10 original artist's prints to be auction off last Dec.  I started calling late Feb. to see how things went and got a really nice relationship going with the answer machine.  I called every month until my husband took a bums rush phone call from them in late May telling us we would be paid in 3 weeks.  three weeks came and went.  I am now on my daily calling plan.  You would not believe the excuses I am getting.  I have been talking to real people this time.  I have yet to hear from either Tim or Renee in person.  Today i was told again three weeks.  Then I started to question about the law suit and mentioned cally the Att. General about the case.  Just a little hostile with me after that.  Took my phone number again.  I will call again tomorrow and see what the avoidance of reality game is tomorrow.

I will do what it takes for myself and any others that have been affected by this company's fraudualant business practices.  It always amazes me that a business would shoot themselves in the foot like this.  They actually had a good reputition once.

Re: Waiting On T.W. Conroy Auction Company

It has been very frustrating trying to get these guys to return e-mails or telephone calls.

I had bought successfully from them for a few years. My experience was such that I decided to consign artwork to them - much of it with a regional slant.

I am a professional art dealer - 25 years. This is the second instance of an auction house (also in NewYork State) attempting to rip me off. I consigned 25 works to them via UPS on 6 September 2006. Not a peep since.....

What is to be done with these guys (rhetorical)? At some point I entertain legal counsel. Outfits like this put the rest of good, reputable auction houses and those involved in the world of antiques and fine art at risk - New York State doesn't want anything to do with auction houses (except when the attorney general can make a nice media splash as was the case of the commision fixing scandal between Sotheby's and Christie's a few years back).

Post this - BEWARE OF T W CONROY and drive them out of business. My consignment will mean so much more to me if there is some semblance of justice.

Re: Waiting On T.W. Conroy Auction Company

It is truly sad that this man and his wife et al have been allowed to do business.  The Attorney General has an open judgement against him which states he is supposed to pay those victims through the AG on a regular basis.  NOTHING!  Despite supposed action by the AG's office, nothing has been done since April 2008 and new victims are being produced every day.  How could the owners of the Hotel Syracuse let him do a huge auction last week!  You can try calling the police and everyone else in the state and no one will do anything.  He is a major felon being allowed to remain free to swindle and cheat people - including the towns where he "owns" property.  He neglects to pay taxes.  Where has all the money gone??  Relative of a victim who lost many, many thousands of dollars.
