Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

I too bought a sewing machine from Kneckts Sewing Dec 2004 and just sent in the rebate first of Dec 2007.  It was a day or two later that this story came out on news channel 9.   I received my signed return receipt postcard and thought "maybe they've fixed the problem".  Guess I was wrong !  I'm filling out the attorney general's paperwork and sending it in and any of you out there should do the same.

I was told by my merchant (Colton Piano in San Jose, CA) to file a claim with the attorney general of Florida.  Is this who you received a form from.  Can you send me the contact info for the AG.  Thank you.

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

It seems like there are quite a few of us from Colton Piano in the same boat.  Do you have any info for contacting the attorney general office.  Colton told me to file a claim with Florida AG.  I would not have bought such an expensive piano if not for the rebate.  I was offered only the cash back rebate.  Was not offered an option of 7% back at time of sale at the time.

There are also many in Utah, including me, who purchased pianos from Heritage Music in Orem, UT, that were sold with this Cash Back America rebate as an incentive.  I sent everything in correctly and also had a man named, Gooding sign for my rebate sent by certified mail.  I have not heard from them.  I would also like an address or phone number of the Florida Attourney Generals office to file a complaint.  My rebate is for $5000.00.

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

I did some quick research and found that the Florida Attourney General has taken Cash Back America to circuit court.  They have 501 complaints against them filed at this time.  If you would like to file a complaint you can download a form from the internet @ http://myfloridalegal.com/comsumercomplaint.pdf  or you may call their office at (407)999-5588.  Do it as soon as possible because they will add complainants only until the case is finished.

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

I am from Maryland and bought a Hot tub from a company called Softub for $4,000.00 with the hope of getting a $2,000.00 rebate after 3years! Yeah, I was another hopeful sucker looking forward to this rebate by doing everything under the promotion conditions except send them back my first born and placenta! What a rip off deal! Anyway...I will send in a complaint to AG of Florida...but do I need to take this up for MD AG??? Anyone know?

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

I bought a swiiming pool from a company in Altoona, PA 3-1/2 years ago.  I should have received a rebate check for up to $3,000 in August 2008.  I have e-mailed cashbackamerica.com a few times and was told that they were very backed up on rebates, but that I should receive a check by mid-november.  I just tried to e-mail again, and now that e-mail doesn't exist.  My next step also would have been to contact USAS, but you didn't seem to have any luck.  Did you contact the attorney general yet?  I could start by calling the lawyer that I asked to read over my rebate before I sent it in.  This makes me sick in the stomach.  I spent way too much for the swimming pool.  Thanks for any help or updates you could give me.  Judy in PA.

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

I purchased a Husqvarna Viking Serger from Country Stitches at Joann's in Flint, Michigan in 2004. I did all that was necessary and followed instructions to the letter to be sure to get my rebate. I never would have purchased this expensive sewing machine if I had known that in 3 years I would not receive my rebate. I just want to know where I can go to return my sewing machine as I have never been able to use it. I do not have a VCR to watch the video to learn how to use the machine. I followed the CD instructions to learn how to thread the machine, but that is how far I got. It has sat on my sewing counter behind my regular sewing machine, and I was going to return it, but found out that Country Stitches, who sold me the sewing machine, has gone out of business! I want to find out where to go to sign up for the lawsuit as I would like to join in the suit. Thank you!

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

I have about the same issue. Cashback America guaranteed customers who bought a piano from Colton Piano, in San Francisco California, a rebate ($1595.00 in my case) that would be fullfiled 4yrs and a half after making the purchase. Since June of 2007, I had many contacts with them, both at 1-407-658-8404 and by emails. I was told that my rebate was valid and I should be receiving my rebate checks in the mail.  I was repeatly told to be patient and my rebate check would be on its way.  Of course I did not get any check. And now, the phone number no longer exists and no one returned my emails anymore....

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

We 'suckers' will not be getting any rebates because Cashback America is out of business.

Also, there is no hidden stash of money to pay the rebates.  CBA only collected around 13% of the rebate face value, and we can only imagine where that's been spent.

    Check out www.cashbackamericasucks.com for details.

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

Sad  here's part of the problem:  I too purchased a sewing machine from Country stitches in Flint,,,and they had rasied the price about $500.oo more than they usually sell the machine for.  In order to get the rebate you paid more than you would have just to by the machine.  I bit anyways because I thought I would get at least the extra money I paid for the machine and in the end would not be out any "extra" money.  Country stitches collected this money and it is what they probably sent in to the rebate co... thus not costing them anything yet they rang up sells galore. Today when I talked with someone there they just directed me to the attn generals ofc in Fl for a class action suit and said this co. has about $500,000 of their money too....  Hello,  that was OUR money that was charged over the regular sales price. SOOOOOO needless to say Country Stitches is a rip off too.  Yet they continue to say they have nothing to do with this.   Buyer Beware,

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

I purchased a sewing machine from Country Stitches in East Lansing 1-12-05. Went through all Cash Back required mailing procedures. When no response from CBA, called Country Stitches, they answered "add your name to Florida AG list". I did BUT also, Better Business Bureau of Mich, Attorney Gen of Mich., Senator Debbie Stabenow in D.C., Honorable Rep. Mike Rogers in D.C., Mich. Rep. Barb Byrum in Lansing. Better Business Bureau contacted Country Stitches, and sent the response to me. They claim they thoroughly researched CBA, ran promotion in 2005 and 2006, and thought company reputable!!Rep. Byrum's office called today, Mich Attorney General has only heard from 3 people about Country Stitches. Please Michigan residents call and write. Country Stitches sold 148 high- end sewing machines in one week for $255,378, and they say they are not responsible to their customers!!! because the rebate they advertised to and enticed customers with did not pay off. The Federal Trade Commission has also contacted me with concern...please people write, call, e-mail your elected officials, newspapers. Take the time to be heard.

Re: Cashback America Rebates: The Real Deal

I purchased a hot tub through a spa dealership in Maryland and had it delivered to my New York residence September 2004 and the rebate was $2000.00 to be fulfilled in 3 years.  Aug 07 I sent the required documents certified to the Mt. Dora address.  I found out about the address change by calling ahead of time and I spoke to a receptionist named Cheryl who provided the change of address.  31 October 07 I called to follow up and again spoke to Cheryl who asked for the my voucher stub number stated they don't process till 30 days after the final rebate date which for me would be 21 Oct 07.  And, there was a backlog  so the earliest I may hear something would be around 21 Jan 08.  Maybe it's time to get New York State's attorney's office involved..
