EAST SYRACUSE, New York (29 May 2008) – The Food Bank of Central New York has announced that its popular annual Golf Open, held at the Links at Sunset Ridge in Marcellus and presented this year by First Niagara Bank, has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, 2008.  The Golf Open, which has come close to maximum capacity for the past two years, raised a net of $11,570 last year to help feed the hungry in Central and Northern New York.  Major sponsors include stressdesign and Syracuse Community Health Center; media sponsor is WSYR 570am.

            Teams will compete in a shotgun start, captain-and-crew format for both bragging rights and prizes, followed by a prime rib dinner.  Prizes will be awarded for the winning team as well as the Longest Drive (Men’s and Women’s) and Closest to the Pin (Men’s and Women’s).  Optional contests include Skins, Putting, Chip-In, Hole in One, and more.  Registration is $110 per single or $400 per foursome, and includes greens fees, cart, lunch, dinner, and tee prizes.  To register, or to become a sponsor, interested parties can call the Food Bank at (315) 437-1899 x246.
