In Syracuse there were actually 2 storms, one around 1 AM and the other one just before 4 AM. With all that lightning I'm surprised there wasn't more than 4,000 people left without power.

re: Welcome To Summer (2 Weeks Early)

It's hard to believe it was 35 degrees just 9 days ago!

re: Welcome To Summer (2 Weeks Early)

What is the dew point right now?

re: Welcome To Summer (2 Weeks Early)

This is MY type of weather! I love the heat and I don't mind the humidity. I'd move to Virginia if I could afford it. It's funny how people hate the cold and when it finally gets hot they complain then too. I love hearing thunderstorms at night. Bring em' on! Enjoy the heat everyone!

re: Welcome To Summer (2 Weeks Early)

I'm happy that the pool's finally in use!!!

re: Welcome To Summer (2 Weeks Early)

In your Weather Discussion, you say we have the possibility of widespread severe storms Tuesday and the NWS agrees with you as well. It's hard to beleive it was nice and cool in the 50's last week! I don't take too kindly to all this heat and humidity though. It's too much. I am thankful I have a/c in my house to stay cool. Without it, I could'nt stand it. Glad it's going to cool off the middle of the week. I do beileve in this global warming stuff, definitely. It's scarey. We have to make some changes to save our Mother Earth from damage from this.

re: Welcome To Summer (2 Weeks Early)

this is early JUNE, not March

re: Welcome To Summer (2 Weeks Early)

One may look at these temperatures and say it is global warming, but if you look back at the records, there are many longstanding records from the 1930s Dust Bowl Era that are still standing. I am from Central New York, but am living in Virginia for the summer and it has been around 100 here the last three days, but even still there are records that remain standing from the 1930s of around 101 and 102. Carbon dioxide, from humans, polluting the atmosphere in the 1930s is multiple times lower than the amounts of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere today. Having an unusually hot few days in June, or even a record-setting hot summer, as we did just recently with 2005, does not prove man-made global warming.

You are free to disagree with me, but I believe that we are currently on the upper-end of the natural cycle of the earths temperature and that already we are experiencing a gradual decline again. There are many theories out there, and global warming as being caused by human beings is just one of them. Another is that the earths global temperatures correlate with the sunspot cycles of the sun, hence why Mars also appears to have global temperatures that are on the increase according to NASA. I don't think the Mars rover expeditions have released much carbon dioxide into Mars atmosphere. The theories are interesting to examine and I believe more studying should be done than just blindly accepting the poorly-evidenced theory of man-made global warming that threatens to bankrupt us all by adding massive taxes onto already barely affordable gas and energy prices which in turn are affecting prices on food and everything else.

Let's do our part in conserving energy and taking care of the world, but lets not go overboard and allow Congress and other nations to bankrupt us by charging and taxing us because we are supposedly causing the current rise in global temperature. What did they say in the 1930s I wonder? How about the 1970s and 1980s when all of the scientists hyped up a supposed ice age coming? I think that the theory of global warming as being caused by man lacks much to support it.

Stay cool up there in CNY! I miss upstate NY and the summers there., but I just graduated from college this May and right now this is where my job is. A big plus though is the Appalachian Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway which is only an hour away; a great place to get away to on the hot weekend days.
re: Welcome To Summer (2 Weeks Early)

Brad, It's good to here from someone who has a brain and can think for themselves. To many people out there are "spoon fed" by the media. Stay cool down there in Virginia!

re: Welcome To Summer (2 Weeks Early)

Hi, I'm rich and I had my brain surgically removed to make way for more mush that I get spoon fed from Fox news and Rush Limbaugh.
