So Dave, is this the last of the cold/cool outbreaks til fall or is the weekend warm-up short lived? I don't mind being patient, and having to endure this cold stuff, as long as I know this is it til fall. So what do you think...does that warmer than normal summer you guys are predicting begin with the Memorial day weekend or is it just a temporary thing with more cool weather to follow?

Are we to expect any frost in outlying areas? I lost a significant amount of tomato plats to frost a week ago sunday morning when no frost was predicted.I have plants to replace but wont put them in till after Memorial Day-thanks

So who saw snow this morning? I covered all the plants in my garden and noticed we bottomed out at 32.2 at 5:20 AM. Chilly for May, but I remember seeing snow in years past that actually stuck on the hilltops!

I've seen frost in June and I don't rely on forecasts to determine whether or not I cover my plants. If it clears out, and it's cooling off at sunset, I cover them. Of course, my plants aren't in the ground yet because the soil isn't warm enough.
SteveH. I remember seeing 7 inches of snow in mid May in 1976, I believe.

My farmer grandfather who would be about 125 years old now, said there are three conditions required for spring frost to occur: 1. Sunset temperature of 50º or less; 2. No wind; and 3; Clear skies. Its always been true for me here in Marcellus!
