It's hard to believe but from April 19th to April 21st, 1983 Fulton area received nearly a foot of snow and several school districts had one of there latest snow days. In fact for the 1982-83 seasons this was one of the largest snow events!

Wow, this weather is so awesome, I can't imagine seeing any snow again this season. But.....you never know! I remember Mother's Day, 1997, when my tulips were bent over on the ground from the heavy snow! But enough about that! This week has been the best, especially if you had work to do outside, which I did. What a gift this has been for us in central NY. And the best part is, next week looks to be just as nice. Kudos to NC9 for getting us through this weird winter and keeping us informed. You guys are the best!

By the way, I hope it doesn't rain too soon. I'm not ready to start mowing the lawn yet! :)

I had to cut the lawn today as it was getting pretty high. By far one of my favorite scents of Spring is the smell of the grass being cut for the first time. 86 degrees as I type, gotta love it!

What a great week for all of the kids and teachers to have off for spring break.

This weather is really freaky... in a good way though. 85 Degrees in the middle of April can really put you in a good mood.
I know most of you don't want to hear what I'm about to say because you're enjoying the weather, but as far as the rain goes, we are in desperate need of it. All the brush fires in the area have shown that. I still have to admit, I'd like at least a few more sunny days before any rain rolls in.

Okay I arrived back from Florida last night, my first trip there ever. I was SO looking forward to the 80s they typically have this time of year. Unfortunately, the weather here was warmer for most of the week!! The first 3 days I was there it was in the low 60s, and the first day was rainy. Then it warmed up to the 70s, and didn't hit 80 until Friday. I left on Saturday morning. The forecasted temps there for this coming week were high 80s....grrrrr!!!

Anyway, I'm happy to be home and am sure glad to see these BEAUTIFUL temps here!! Getting ready to get that pool open finally!!

Hello everyone,

I was busy taking advantage of the sunny dry weather to work in the yard this weekend so additonal posts until now. I have my mower ready but I my grass hasn't grown that much yet. It's greened up quite a bit but it's not cut-able. I think a little rain would go a long was to getting the grass to grow and even some of the leaves to pop.

We certainly in some rare territory with the warm weather. We are now up to 5 days in a row with 70 degrees plus and we are very likely going to tack on two more days Tuesday and Wednesday which would push to 7 days. Only 3 other times in the last 106 years of records have we had longer streaks:

8 Days 1990
8 Days 1942
9 Days 1957

In all those cases we got off to a warm start to summer with warmer than normal Junes then we tailed off the rest of the summer. The overall temps for the whole summer were still above normal but the warmest month was June in all three cases. The number of 90 degree days were not excessive 5, 9 and 6 days respectively.

With all this warm weather Im suprised there isnt more discussion of global warming. Im interested to know if our prolonged stretch of warm weather is a result of or related to global warming? The weather feels nice but it also raises concern for me.

Happy Earth Day! My grass isn't quite ready to mow but I made sure the mowers were working this weekend. I actually had to talk my aunt out of opening up her pool this weekend! It was tempting, though! I'm also wondering about global warming and this early long spell of warm weather. Like BX, I think it's great but I'm concerned, too.

I think global warming is just a cycle the earth goes through, but that's just my own opinion. It only makes sense, right ?
As far as temperatures go, I think our weather will become tropical like Florida, but it won't be for a few decadel... To me, that's nothing to worry about :-). But for Florida, any warmer than it is, and they'll have a bit of a problem.

Jim, I know scientists say that the core of the jet stream has moved slightly north. And they believe our weather will start to change in about 20 to 30 years. Is this strange or is it just natural global warming ?

Jim,I noticed on the other channel that they are forecasting a high temperature of only 57 degrees for next Tuesday. Are we going to have a prolonged spell of below temperatures?
