Posted by Dave Longley - Tuesday Morning, 11/20/2007-Just a brief post here, but heading into Thanksgiving Day, the weather looks okay for us as we hit the roads. One thing we're watching for Wednesday is a strong surge of warm air that could be in here as we wake up tomorrow. 2 computer models that we run here in the office are showing temperatures in the 60s just to our south and west tomorrow morning! It's possible the southern part of New York could get that warm tomorrow.
During Thanksgiving there are still some questions as to how quickly cool air rushes in. The faster NAM model has us plenty cold for snow by the time we get up Thursday, while the slower GFS model has an area of low pressure to come through in the morning, which would mean we'd be warm enough for a rainy start Thursday. Eventually colder air would change that rain over to snow. If that colder NAM solution ends up verifying, we could have an inch or two of snow accumulate during the day Thursday, with temperatures falling through the 30s. If the GFS verifies, then I doubt we'd see anything accumulate until Thursday night.
As is typical of these scenarios, reality will likely fall somewhere in between. More later today.
