Posted by Dave Longley - Tuesday morning, 11/3/2007 - Leftover clouds behind last night's cold front will burn off through the morning. We had about a quarter inch of rain in the bucket at Hancock airport. Satellite pictures are showing the clearing.
As I wrote about yesterday, I think this afternoon is lawn mowing day. The jet stream hasn't dipped too far over us, so temperatures will remain mild today, generally in the 50s.
We were expecting clear skies tonight, but there was one mammoth storm that slammed into the Pacific Northwest yesterday, and that thing is making good time across the country. Most of the moisture was squeezed out across the Rockies, but a big area of high level clouds is coming our way, and they'll be over us tonight.
Everything still looks on track for a warm day Wednesday. The jet stream will rise to our north sharply tomorrow, and southerly winds down at the ground will transport warmth and moisture our way. Also, some of the latest computer guidance we've gotten into the office indicate that the rain may hold out until after sunset tomorrow. This is the forecast for 7 PM tomorrow evening and the precipitation, indicated by the green and blue, is just west of central New York.
Enjoy today and tomorrow. Behind the cold front forecast to come through our area Wednesday night, temperatures will drop to near and even below normal for the end of the week and into this weekend. What does this mean for snow? Still a little early to say for sure, but some of us may see some accumulating snow over the weekend.
