NewsChannel 9 learned Thursday evening one of Syracuse's big play receivers, Taj Smith, will be heading to the NFL draft.
The 5th year senior had a chance to play for the team for another year due to an injury earlier in his career, but appears to be ready to sign on with an agent, which will prevent him from ever playing at the college level again.
SU head coach Greg Robinson said in a written statement, he wishes Taj the best, and thanks him for his contribution to the SU community.

SU Athletic Director Dr. Daryl Gross announced late Wednesday afternoon in a press release, that Greg Robinson will remain head coach.
“I have evaluated our football program now that the 2007 season has concluded and want to make clear that Greg Robinson remains Syracuse University’s head football coach.
Gross said he has been very disappointed with the outcome of this season, along with our overall record the past three years. “Despite our collective disappointment with this season, those I talked with agreed with me that stability is tremendously important to our program, specifically as it relates to recruiting, and stabilizing and building solid classes of student-athletes."
Robinson, in the press release, said "“I have had extensive discussions with Daryl and others in recent days about the future of our football program. I am committed to doing whatever it takes for our program to improve and regain the confidence of our community in 2008. There are clearly a number of key areas in which we need to make substantial progress. At the same time, I am evaluating what changes we need to make as a coaching staff to maximize the substantial talent we have on our roster to achieve success."

SU won a close one Tuesday night against St. Joesph's. Freshman guard Jonny Flynn hit a 3-pointer fwith 5.3 seconds left to break a 68-all tie.
However, it was what happened with around one second left that has everyone's attention in the newsroom.
Paul Harris misses his first free throw, keeping it a 2 point game, meaning a miracle-bucket across the court would win the game for St. Joseph's.
Jim Boeheim then instructs Harris to miss the second shot so the other team would not be able to get the ball back.
However, Harris made the second bucket, and gave St. Joseph's one last shot to tie the game up. They tossed the ball across court, and attempted a three-pointer with less than a second left, but missed the shot.
Harris, in the lockeroom interview, said he tried to miss the basket, but it just went in. ( Full Postgame Comments)
Immediately after the game, Boeheim, while being congratulated by St. Joesph's coach, could be seen going after Harris to give him a piece of his mind. Boeheim told NewsChannel 9 Wednesday what he said to Paul Harris was meant just for him.
In the end, all that matters, is Syracuse beat Saint Joseph's 72-69.

Did anyone really see this coming? The team was around a five touchdown underdog all week. Instead, SU put up five touchdowns and added a field goal for a 38-35 victory against No. 18 ranked Louisville.
Andrew Robinson threw for a career-high 423 yards and
four touchdowns.
Taj Smith caught four passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns for the Orange
as Syracuse ended Louisville's 20-game home winning streak
by dominating the listless Cardinals.
The victory was Syracuse's first road conference win and first victory over
a ranked team since beating Boston College at the end of the 2004 season. Talk about the game fans!

Rashard Mendenhall rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns, Juice Williams threw for one touchdown and ran for another, and Illinois beat Syracuse 41-20 on Saturday.
It was the Illini's first win over a team from college football's top division since a 23-20 victory over Michigan State nearly a year ago.
The victory also avenged a home loss last fall to the Orange, the lone Syracuse road victory in head coach Greg Robinson's three-year tenure.
Syracuse hasn't started a season with three straight losses in 21 years. The Orange has been outscored 118-32 by three teams whose combined record in 2006 was 13-24.
The Orange entered the game allowing 426 yards and 38.5 points. Illinois had 443 yards after three quarters and finished with 508. The Illini gained 378 yards rushing, the most since they had 420 in a 42-23 win over Minnesota in 1975.

Quarterback Andrew Robinson, making his second start was 7-for-20 for 79 yards. Junior Curtis Brinkley led the Orange ground game with 36 yards on 12 carries.
The Orange had a chance to get on the scoreboard in the second quarter after a Joe Fields’ interception, but Patrick Shadle’s 39-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Kenny Iwebema. Iwebema also blocked an SU field goal try in the third quarter.

It was the first Friday night game in the Carrier Dome's history, but as far as the Orange are concerned, they'd rather forget about it.
The Huskies' Louis Rankin stole the show, running for a a career-high 147 yards and three touchdowns... helping the Huskies beat the Orange 42-12 on Friday night.
In a game featuring two quarterbacks who had never started in college, Jake Locker easily outperformed Cuse's Andrew Robinson, but Robinson had signs of brightness. His offensive line did not help him.
Robinson finished 20-for-32 for 199 yards but was sacked seven times, losing 17 yards on 13 carries.
Greg Robinson and the SU Athletics department got the large crowd they were hoping for. Over 42,000 fans showed up in the dome, but Robinson's record now drops to 5-19 at the start of his third season with the Orange.
