Taj Smith Leaving for the NFL

NewsChannel 9 learned Thursday evening one of Syracuse's big play receivers, Taj Smith, will be heading to the NFL draft.

The 5th year senior had a chance to play for the team for another year due to an injury earlier in his career, but appears to be ready to sign on with an agent, which will prevent him from ever playing at the college level again.

SU head coach Greg Robinson said in a written statement, he wishes Taj the best, and thanks him for his contribution to the SU community.

I think its a good decision for Taj as he is healthy and probably as ready as he will ever be. The team is ripe with talented wide receivers and will not suffer with his moving on. He is a terrific young man and we all wish him the best and look forward to seeing him play for an NFL team.
