Should Baseball Have Instant Replay

For the first time Tuesday, baseball general managers recommended instant replay be used to help umpires make difficult decisions.

The recommendation, by a 25-5 vote, would be limited to boundary calls... like if a ball went fair or foul, or if a fan intefered with a play.

Baseball commissioner Bud Selig opposes the use of replays, because he believes it would cause long delays in the game, but said last month he was willing to let GMs examine the issue.

What's your take on the issue? Should baseball have instant replay, and what type of system do you think they should have (playoffs only, everything)?

Yes, for just the calls that have been out lined, hopefully to include whether a hit was a home run or not.
I think it should be given a trail in spring training and at the All Star Game next season then re-evaluated.
In my opinion, it should be up to the umpires when to ask for the replay and not either manager.

You start with this type of call and pretty soon it will be the same as all the other sports.  The unfortunately human officials will be second-guessed by the TV cameras.  Why not take the officials off the field and let them sit in nice warm or cool control rooms and make their calls from there.

It will ultimately change the course of the game, yes some calls dont go your way and some do, but thats what the " make up call" is for. As a person who has played baseball for many years, I personally think it would have a negative impact. Think about momentum of how the crowd reacts and the unknown force that momentum provides a team. How many times has something gone a teams way that sparked a 6 run bottom of the 9th and carried a team to victory.

Heres an example of what would happen if baseball had instant replay and tell me if this sounds normal.

Lou Pinella throwing a red flag on the field instead of kicking dirt and throwing bases.

Baseball can be slooowww at times, and this would only drag out the agony of a pitcher's duel.  Leave well enough alone.  There will be good calls and bad calls, and it's part of thegame.
