Yankees Eliminated in ALDS for 3rd Straight Season; Should Torre Stay?

The Cleveland Indians are the latest team to end the New York Yankees' season prematurely.

The Indians have advanced to the American League Championship Series, closing out the division series three games to one with a 6-4 triumph over the Yankees.

Cleveland handled Chien-Ming Wang for the second time in the series while earning a berth in the ALCS for the first time since 1998.

What's your take on the series, the loss, and the future of Joe Torre? Leave your comments below.

Something needs to be done. There is no reason why, the Yankees, who were 7-0 in the regular season against Cleveland, should of lost this series against them. They always choke during the playoffs, never fails.

Get rid him. Starting wang was a dumb move after what he did in game one. They need to send Mr. postseason (A-Rod) packing too!!!

Someone should pay and I thing it will be Torre!  As a Yankees fan I expect then to go to the world series every year especially with that payroll.

I think Torre has done a great job. Its not all his fault the rest of the team cant win. I think George needs to come manage the Yankees for a season and see how hard it is. Maybe He needs to re-evaluate how he hires then trades or fires players so quickly. Give them a chance for crying out loud.

How many teams go to the playoffs every single year? Joe Torre is a great manager.  He's not the one out there playing each game and not being able to hit or make a run.  George should be looking into that instead of Joe.  As far as Wang as pitcher, he had three days off and should have done the job.  We as spectators are a fickle bunch.  If they win, they are the greatest team in the world... if they lose, they are sorry and everyone should be fired. I'm just sad that this may be the end of a great combination of players if everyone that can will leave this year.  I'll miss Alex the most...he was a sight to see.  But there are some very talented youngsters that came up this year that we can all look forward to seeing next year.

The team (MANAGEMENT INCLUDED) would be a whole lot better if Steinbrenner would sell it.   Considering the pressure Torre had on him to win in the post season, why would an owner with a shred of intelligence compound that pressure with making comments about Torre's future with the team at such a crucial time.  GET RID OF GEORGE!

It's just stupid of Ole' Georgee to say anything of the such during the playoffs. He better keep Joe if he wants to keep any of his core group of players. If Joe goes we may need to watch the season opener to know the names of the starters in  08.

I'm gonna make this as simple as possible. In the past 12 years - with Joe Torre as manager, mind you - the Yankees have made it to the post season EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THOSE YEARS. If George Steinbrenner can't see that for himself and makes good on his threats on Joe Torre's job, then I'm no longer considering myself a Yankees fan.
I cannot, in good conscience, continue to cheer for a team owned by an individual who is so hell-bent on winning the World Series that he trades/fires players because they fall short. He should be proud of his managers, coaches and players for just simply trying to make it as far as they can.

I say keep Joe. Steinbrenner is always threatening and shooting off his mouth. He does that to get attention. It's a game.  When Billy Martin was the coach, then he got fired, then Steinbrenner brought him back, and then Steinbrenner fired him,....it got to be pretty stupid after a while.  I think Joe Torre has managed the Yankees the longest since Steinbrenner owned the team.  The Big "S" is abusing his power as GM because he can.  It's not right.
The players seem to like him and respect him, and if the "Big Man" can't see this as a reason to keep him, then he is a real jerk!!!

Sadly, whenever a team doesn't perform as expected, it's the manager's fault.

NOT!

Ultimately, it's the players who determine whether it's a win or loss.  The manager may decide who will play, who will pitch, and when to make moves, but it mostly rides on the shoulders of all the multi-millionaires who take to the field, and the Yankees simply demonstrate that having a high payroll does not guarantee post-season participation.

The Yankees got farther than expected this year...if you consider the world series teams that won in the 90's...they had much better pitchers back then...Cone, Pettitte (younger and better), Wells, Hernandez, Clemens (younger), Rivera ( younger and awesome), and the regulars were not todays superstars (or $uperbuck$).  Brosius, Bernie, Knoblock, Tino Marinez, O'neil.  But they played well together...much better than today's roster of $uperbuck$.  As far as Torre whining about being insulted....too bad! It's time to go!  It's ridiculous anyways that he can cry about only being offered 5 mill and that it was an insult.  What really is an insult is that the blue collar worker who supports the Yankees can't even get a decent seat at a decent price because of all the big bucks being made by all people associated with the organization...management, players, owners etc.  I have been a Yankee fan for over 40 years, but am so sick and tired of the crying that these multi-millionaires do for being blessed with the chance to play a game and make more than anyone is worth!!
