I think this is an amazing accomplishment.  There will always be critics out there, however I feel the Commisioner of Baseball has been very unprofessional and his lack of enthusiaism was unjust and unprofessional.  A historic moment in baseball and America has just happened and he showed a lack of appreciation to Bonds and to the San Francisco teammates famliy and fans.  
There have been plenty of Players out there that have used steriods.  They did not come close to breaking a record of this magnitude? It takes incredible skill and experiance to reach this and he should be commended not bashed.  I by no means am a San Fran fan.  I am proud to be born and raised Yankees however I believe Bonds and his team deserve the respect and appreciation for the exciting time in history they have given to all Baseball Fans and Americans alike.

the integrity of baseball has been destroyed by barry bonds. he did steroids for more than 10 years, his best freind ,greg anderson is sitting in jail with contempt of court, refusing to tell the truth of the tewn year period that barry bonds took steroids. if barry was innocent why doesnt anderson say barry didnt take drugs.  balco investigations has proof and witnesses that he took all kinds of steroids; tax evasion, and if you dig back , youll find many black racists comments.  this disgusting human being should be publicly peeled and put in prison, and have his carreer cancelled and erased from the record books . a vile . piece of sludge should have his portrait in the hall of fame [shame] and villified for the monster he is;  iguarantee, he will be exposed before the season is up.

i think it would be an excellent achievement had he not used steroids i feel that his record should not count because if it does what kind of an example is he setting to todays children. i think if anyone is caught with steroids they should be kicked out of baseball.

Nobody should be celebrating Bonds' HR record. Why should we celebrate cheating and lying to the public about his steroid use.

Until you can show me a home run hitter that has not used steroids, then Hank Aaron's record will not be broken

The only thing I've heard so far is ALLEGED steroid use - has it ever been PROVEN that Barry Bonds ever used steroids?  Was he ever reprimanded, suspended or penalized for steroid use?  If so, why is he still playing?  Channel 9 News, you should be ashamed of your sensationalist broadcast on Wed., Aug. 8th @ 5 pm.  Especially embarrassed for that idiot you had on location at Cooperstown's Baseball Hall of Fame.  You have become TV trash, ala Jerry Springer and the Maury Show.

bonds is a fraud.  hes a proven cheat liar, and racist; he deserves the worst that can happen to him. channel 9 news is exemplelary, a great award winning show. i dont knowwhat jacalyn is basing her statement on. ive got a pretty good idea why she says these horrible things; heres asuggestion for you; polish your gold toothand feed your 6 kids 8 big macs a piece, dont forget to get them off the street by midnite, especially the 2 year old.

I am sick and tired of the "everyone else was doing it" excuse.   Everyone who used performance drugs should have any record they set wiped out. Steroids ARE Illegal.  For me Hank is still the homerun king.  He was a great player BEFORE he took the drugs.  He would have beeen in the hall of Fame without the use of drugs.  If he was clean Jacalyn then why was Hank and the Bud not there?  If I was accused of steroid use I would be screaming from every mountain top that I was not a user.  What does he say??? My day will come and he record is not tainted.  What B.S.

It is a disgrace to honor cheating.  Taking the "flaxseed" that Bond's has confessed to using he should be able to play until age 85 and hit 1500 home runs, that is, if his head dosn't explode and his feet enlarge so much he can't stumble to the plate.  

I am been a long time baseball fan!!!  I remember Henry Aaron breaking Babe Ruth's record.  I don't care what Barry Bonds has done.  I did not want to see Barry break it.  I was rooting against him.  I will be cheering and rooting for anyone to break the record again.  

He had been using steroids for a long time.  At least Jason Giambi fessed up to it.  It doesn't make what he did any less of a crime in my eyes as a true Yankee fan.  But at least he admitted to using them.    

Barry Bonds has disgraced baseball.  I really hope that when he does go into the Hall, he is NOT voted in the 1st time on the ballot.  I hope that the voters really think about this issue and make the right choice to make him wait.  He has to be held accountable for his actions and what he done to the game.  

I think it is awful that he was allowed to continue without this being resolved.  What type of role model is he for these kids.  How can you tell kids you have to go by the rules but if you make it to the big times, you will learn to break them and get away with it.  His record should be wiped cleaned and start over again, when he is clean!

One more comment for me to make.   Baseball is a team sport.  What else has Barry Bonds done for baseball or his team beside hit a bunch of home runs?  I have always heard that he has his own "special" chair.  Doesn't talk to anyone else on the team.  He goes into the clubhouse after he is done in the line-up.  I have no respect for him at all.  

I will be waiting and hoping that someone breaks that record on him.  I am actually ANGRY that the record is broken.

Barry Bonds is a selfish, egotistical liar and should have been suspended a long time ago until this investigation into his Steroid use is resolved and it should have been resolved a long time ago.  He doesn't care about the fans, in fact, he doesn't sign autographs for the kids that go to the games.  He just walks right by them and doesn't even acknowledge they are there.  I don't care how many times he says this record is not tainted, no true baseball fan will ever believe he is the home run king.  If he does get inducted into the Hall of Fame there should be an asterisk next to his name saying he used Steroids just as there was an undeserved asterisk after Roger Maris name for a long time because he played more games the year he broke Babe Ruth's single season home run record.  Pete Rose, who has done more for baseball than Barry Bonds will ever think of doing, was told all he had to do was admit he betted on baseball games and Bud Selig would consider his reinstatement and he finally admitted to it but his reinstatement request is sitting on Selig's desk if not in the trash.  Why should we celebrate Barry Bond's tainted record when the only thing he cares about baseball is the big fat check he gets.

I am sorry but I think that we should have better heroes for our kids to idolize. By acknowledging him for his achievements all you are doing is reinforcing to our kids is that it is ok to use illegal drugs to enhance your performance to better yourself and then get positive attention for it.  Its like telling them in one sentence that its not ok to do some thing, but then turn around and award them for the out come of their actions.

I think that people should get off of Barry Bonds. No one has ever submitted proof that he tested positive for steroids, and even IF he did use steroids, so what? If one doesn't use available technology, they are only cheating themself. Furthermore, steroids don't help a batter see a 100MPH fastball or a curveball, and for any (ugh) Yankee fan thay is dumping on Bonds: Why is it okay for Jason Giambi, an admitted steroid user, to bask in the glow of your cheers and admiration, but then you spout anti- Bonds hatred? I believe that is called hypocrisy

As a yankee fan I would have liked them to dumb Giambi.  So you are saying that it is OK to cheat??  It may not help them SEE a fast ball, but as evidence from Bonds, McGuire (sp?) and Giambi show you can hit the ball faster.  You want evidence try reading game of shadow.  Why is ther a guy sitting in jail because he refused to give testimony about Bonds.  I don't care if "EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING IT" excuse is used ..EVERYONE who has cheated baseball should have any record removed.  Nice message to send to kids...do your best, but if not then cheat like hell!!

I disagree...while it is cheating, the commitee is still allowing them to play.  Therefore any records, stats, etc are fair game.

It is the commitee's fault that he is still playing, but SINCE he is...then THEY are allowing him to achieve that record... plain and simple.
