Plugged In: the DTV Switch

Finally: the instructions!

Sorry for the delay... getting the instructions together proved to be far more time-consuming than I had expected.  You can  download the Acrobat document here (or you can right-click the link to save the file to your computer).  Warning:  this is a rather large file, about 22 megabytes, so it will take some time.

Other documents you might want, repeated from previous posts:

That's it for today... but it's enough to get you through the construction.  I've gotten several really good questions which I'll try to get to tomorrow... promise!

Hello Jeff and welcome to the DHC forums. I've read through your website at:

http://community.9wsyr.com/blogs/plugged_in_the_dtv_switch/archive/2008/05/27/3046816.aspx

and I have some info for you that is most important.

First, congratulations on designing and sharing the antenna you have built. It is great publicity for our project.

The design of the Grey Hoverman antenna has been released under the GPLv3 licence, which is very important for anyone designing improvements to the original design to comprehend and follow.

http://www.fsf.org/licensing/licenses/gpl-3.0.html

It is extremely important that you indicate in your web page and PDF file, clearly and hopefully with web links to the GPLv3, as often as possible, that the Grey Hoverman antenna design is released under the GPLv3 licence and that your improvements to building a Gray Hoverman are also covered under the GPLv3 licence. Under the terms of that licence there is no choice on your part but to do this.

I have another point of clarification for you in the accompanying text: the Gray Hoverman was not designed by one gentleman over a few years. We are extremely grateful that Autofils, a DHC member, has allowed us over the past few months to learn with him the benefits of computer modelling the old Hoverman design. Autofils led the team, and you can see from reading the appropriate threads here at this site that it has been a labour of love by many contributors. Please correct that text portion and clarify that the DHC web site is the home of the ongoing design efforts.

I hope you'll look into these licence matters as soon as you can, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks and best regards

Thanks, Stampeder, for the feedback and amplification.  I will add the pertinent information to the PDF documents, along with several typo corrections and a minor design improvement.  One can easily see why I am an engineer, and not a lawyer!

Jeff,
Can #6 copper wire be substituted for the #8 without issue?

For future DBGH compatibility, should the top (or bottom) INBOARD TEES be CROSSES?

How does one mount this antenna?

Should I just build the DBGH and get it over with?
At TVfool, input 18017-5202 for my locale and post transition digitals outside of locals are in the -95 dBm and falling range. I guess a low noise preamp would be next.

Thanks in advance for any help.
