it may not be a glamorous carreer ,but more young adults should be encouraged to enter this vital job. maybe, if we increase the wages ,itl attract more good prospects. the difficulty remains with the quality of person in todays generation [15-25] . maybe 60 percent of these kids lack the value system that previous generations possesed. a general lack of respect for adults, history, and the sustinance of life leaves alot of blanks in many carreer areas in life. a more intensified training and requirement s in school would be one way to turn out more pharmicists.

Can you believe these pharmicists? Taking vacation when they are needed. I think they should all be chained to their pill counters and made to work until their replacements can be trained.

if pharmicies are willing , they should have a program for people 50-60 , who are willing to be trained at pharmicy schools; many people in this age group cant find jobs anymore, and could use a second carreer to sustain their lives, and also help other people. isnt this part of being human

Maybe if people could afford an education, at a school of pharmacology, then we would have an abundant number of pharmacists. In this day and age, graduating seniors in high schools come from "regular" middle-class families who do not receive enough financial assistance to send their child to a college that costs alot of money. Then again, what college degree doesn't cost alot of money. I will be 44 years old before my degree(s) are paid off! Maybe colleges should reconsider their tutition costs and make a college education more affordable!

To Duh....we are entitled to vacations just like anyone else, just as we are entitled to eat and go to the bathroom. I hope you are being facetious and not serious in your comments. It is not our fault that there aren't enough of us to go around. Perhaps a few things should happen first:

people should start exercising and getting off their fat a$$es so they don't need meds for high blood pressure and high cholesterol (because those meds are all we seem to dispense these days)

Money hungry colleges should lower their tuitions (tuition has TRIPLED at the college I graduated from since the 9 years I have practiced)

people like YOU who are ignorant and uneducated (oh..that is most of our patients, too) need to keep your mouth shut and stop talking smack about pharmacy.

I am a Manager at a local Pharmacy and I will be the first to tell you that Pharmacists are not to blame, its a nation, company wide problem. There are pharmacists that work PT and FT and at both catagories these people are working 12-13 hours days. No chains , no independent pharmacies are to blame......schools need to push that this career path is well paid and has allot to offer as far as incentives......

These people are entitled to vacations and time off, they earned it just like the rest of us!

As far as the post above about 50-60 year olds.......
There are continueing ed classes involved with being a pharmacist , along with 4 to even 7 years of training(college) , I personally don't think at that age it would be worth shooting for. However becoming a RX tech would be a possability. This postion can be trainind right at store levels and you can be certified. Pharmacies in some chains wont even let you become this postion unless you meet certain requirments......which I (also a personal opnion) believe this age catagory would be more suitable for....
