I think that Time Warner prices are getting a bit ridiculous.  I have cancelled my cable TV service and now only get the basic free channels, 3, 5, 9 etc.  No problem.  Life is good!

Here we go again,,,,didn't they just raise the prices in the fall??  Eventually it will get the point where only the financially well off individuals will be able to afford to watch TV.

Verizon TV is coming soon, Time Warner should be very nervous. The reign of their monopoly is about to end.

What are you people whining about?  Can't you see that oil prices are soaring.  Everything else is going up in price so why not cable?  I need to line my pockets with money just like the rest of you.    

Time for competition.  That's what helped the telecoms lower rates.  Now its time for our elected officials to stop this city and town franchising. Its long past the time to let companies like Verizon enter the cable market in central NY.  Besides the fact that TW offers lousy service.  For example, I have bad reception(on LCD TVs) for local channels 3 and 5.  TW's answer is "When digital comes, that problem will go away."  Maybe TW is what needs to go away.

Dropped them for Direct TV a while back and never been more satisified. Price is affordable and I do not have to watch Real Sports with Brian Gumbel everytime I go to watch a movie on a movie channel. And what a variety of shows.

Wouldn't it be nice to increase your wages as easily as big buisness raises there rates? They cry about how much they have to pay for gas etc.,then boast about their profits every quarter. I buy the same gas and all my expenses are way up, but I can't demand a pay increase. I guess the rich get richer and the poor... well we are at the bottom of the hill.

I'm dropping them because I can get TV service cheaper from Direct TV.  Bye Bye Time Warner.  If more people did that....they would think twice before raising them again and again and again.

It is great to see if you order a certain package your rates stay the same.  It seems illegal to raise the cost for one but not all?  Is this not some sort of discrimination?  

It is like charging cash paying people more to use the Thruway but not Easy Pass.

If the price goes up it should for everyone.  Next thing you know you will get charged more at the pump for filling certain cars or at the store charged more because you are not using your discount card..wait that already happens to.

I own my own small business. I recently had to raise my rates, I understand why a big company would have to do the same.

How can TWC increase rates when they haven't added a single HD channel in over a year?  DirecTV now advertises 92 HD channels - what does TWC bring to the table?  When you ask the customer service representatives, they promise lots of channels before the end of the year. What year?  This is exactly what they said last year!!!

I think, unfortunatley, along with everything else.... TimeWarner had to raise their rates.  I mean my Niagara Mohwak, my gas with my car, my groceries, my mortgage, and even my prescriptions have gone up way more than TimeWarner's little $2 hike!!!  If Time Warner has to raise their rates to continue to give us the best television I have ever had then so be it !!!

Whats the number for Direct TV, I will be canceling my cable and Roadrunner service April 1st !

I did the dish thing for a bit, hated it & went back to cable. Their rates have, to me, been steady for the last several years. I personally can't understand why so many would complain about a rate increase that amounts to 3-5 dollars a month. I've got digital cable in my house, plus internet and phone. To me, an increase like this one isn't a lot to cry about. Given that the last several years, as I have stated, things have been relatively steady, I don't think there's a lot to complain about.

By the way, before any of you start in with your criticism of me or imply that I'm rich, I'm not. I'm just as middle-class American as the next guy. So before you complain about a small increase, think of this:  All those Time Warner trucks you see out & about need fuel to run. With fuel prices as high as they are, I honestly am surprised that our rates didn't go up sooner. (I'm grateful that they didn't)

I agree Lola....  Why do people think it doesnt cost TW more operate??  Free service calls which I promise you wont get from verizon....  and a $2 rate hike... PLEASE complain to me when cable is not a luxury item.... Hey can you call National Grid and threaten them to go to a competitor??  Tell me how that works out for you.  UGH...  Does your cable go out n the snow?? Quick response to Mark about "Verizon TV."

Hate to tell ya this, but Verizon and Direct TV have some sort of agreement that Verizon customers can get Direct TV satellite service as part of their Verizon service plans. In other words, Verizon already has TV service, if you would kindly wake up & read the news every now & again.

Never had a problem in the snow with my dish, and also never had to call a tech yet in the year I have had Direct TV. Always had a problem with Time Warners reception on local channels, which I hear is a common problem with alot of people. Funny, as a kid, we never needed cable to get local channels, they used to come in crystal clear. I live within 5 miles of all local channels and none come in clear without some sort of cable service. Makes you wonder. By the way HD is great, can you say the same?

 People remember if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.  So all these companies promising something for nothing are lying, bottom line is satellite, cable etc. costs money.  I would rather pay a few dollars more (upfront) to TWC and know I have reliable excellent service with free service calls than to get suckered into a contract with some satellite or Verizon provider who are gonna stick it to me with outrageous additional fees, and service calls

I'm ready to switch. I have never been a fan of TW. Let's go Verizon!! Just waiting for the TV (I prefer to wait for their phone line TV, I do not want a dish). Competition is a healthy economic feature!! Soon, TW, soon....

So whats news worthy about this? TWC raises thier rates EVERY year around this time. Just another reason to leave CNY. Cable TV in in Florida is $49 a month with HBO & Cinemax. 22 HD channels. Internet is $25 a month

Actually I can say my HD service is great. I dont pay a dime for all the HD channels I have, It has taken TW a little longer then the other providers but I'm willing to wait to get FREE HD. How's that additional $20 charge for your HD channels????

i think people need to look at the big picture stop blameing these companys for raseing there rates and start putting pressure on the company you work for to keep up with the changes if you are uneducated then you have no one to blame but yourself for not getting a better job and being able to afford this LUXUARY IT IS A  LUXUARY NOT A RIGHT TO HAVE CABLE OR SATILITE

TimeWarner doesn't even know what rates they charge. I called 2 times to get price quotes on upgrading my package and the operators are clueless. I have been quoted 2 prices for the same package. Obviously, they won't be reinvesting that money in knowledgable operators. WHATEVER at this point I'm thinkin about climbing back up on my roof and fixing my antenna. Who cares about TV and I did away with my landline so now all I have is a cell phone. BOO, thumbs down to TW.

Well its free because I dont pay extra for it. Yes my bill did have a small increase. But in the news recently Satelite companies just raised their rates Feb 1st, and others are probably going to follow. So if everyones bills increased as well as mine. I'm still ahead because guess what..... Im still not paying for my HD channels. Its simple math.. I'm sure you wouldn't understand.

I go through Verizon for Direct TV, phone and internet. My bill has not changed in the year + I have had this service, nor have I received any notification for any increase. Maybe some have different types of contracts, but I pay one price like you, only difference is my rates do not go up all the time like Time Warner. I don't mind a simple increase to offset the cost of doing business, but TW customers flat out get ripped off for crappy service. You seem to be happy with their service, more power to you. I was dis-satisified and did something about it. The only time I will pay more is if I upgrade, but with 800 channels including music and the NFL network (NFL Network is part of the package,no additional cost) what's the point.  

That's it ..i am cancelling today.And I am telling them my reason is simple.....crap flows down hill...but it isn't going to stop at my house..I dont need your "service" I am cutting back.

Like I said in the above post earlier: I always loved turing on the HBO MOVIE CHANNEL and seeing sports shows.

If people could put as much concern in gas prices, the war, the PRESIDENT, then our cost of living wouldn't be so high and we wouldn't get so upset over such a little thing like a dollar more on our cable bill which we need to remember is a luxury not a necessity!

Let's see, fewer decent programs, if you try to watch amovie you get 10 minutes of commercials and 15 minutes of movie. A 2 hour movie turns into 3. We get assailed with commercials except TCM, and their revenue is down. I think i have seen 'The Repairman" once in 5 years. Oh yeah, little competition which is what the deregulation was supposed to encourage. Want to buy some land in Arizona?

TWC needs to be regulated and let the Gov't decide if they deserve a rate hike.  We need competition!  I called TWC to see how I could lower my bill.  They "adjusted it" and lowered my bill $25.00 without losing anything.  I even gained a channel.  I'm thinking of going back to dial-up (I hate to) but have no other choice.  I don't see FIOS coming to my home in my lifetime so I'm stuck and TWC knows it.

My point of Verizon TV coming is via FIOS...I have their fiber optic line bringing me internet & phone now, and since I am up on it, I know they are bring the TV service to the Syracuse area this summer. They currently have a hub in the Buffalo area (as well as parts of the East & South) and are working their way here with the necessary infrastructure equipment upgrades.

Is FIOS TV really the answer. I dont see TW's rates going down by much, if at all, if FIOS TV comes into the area. They already have competition now with the Satelite companies. So i'm not banking my bill is going to go any lower. I do think when FIOS TV first hits it will be cheaper as an introductory price, but eventually it will be the same price as cable once they have established themselves in the TW market. So instead of one company getting the pie it will be divided between two. But the rates will  be the same for you and me. Just my opinion. I like the idea of Free HD and free service calls, and they are always friendly and courteous when i have a problem. I know its not the case with everyone, but then again you wont be able to please everyone either.

Time warner sucks the price keeped going up and up ever year! went with dish network way better speed channel and NFL channel for the guys, awsome during football season. ask for three in one package deal (phone, dish, internet) caller ID across your t.v. screen

All i want to say is small business owner i love my FREE HD also TW is the only ones that offer that so i am happy about that...as far as dishes 92 channels of HD is that true HD i dont think so....and i am not sure why everyone is really complaining EVERY year rates go up its the cost of doing business and its not really anything new!!! and Jill next FEB the FCC is taken those free channels down so you can use bunny ears to get those channels anymore...read the news once in a while and you might have known that...and one more point is how much does dish charge if they have to come out there cause i have had a TW tech come to my house and didnt see an additional charge on my bill

The issue is that TWCNY is not even keeping up with other Time Warner franchises.  In Albany, they have over 40 HD channels, plus a feature to start any ongoing show from the beginning.

It's been AGES since TWCNY even added a single channel.  They have taken away quite a few, for one reason or another.  TWCNY used to be progressive, adding Roadrunner back in 98 and then Digital Phone.  All they add now is to the cost.

Give us something new or LOWER rates.  We deserve better....Why should TWCNY be treated like a bad stepchild when compared to other Time Warner franchises?

The thing is with FIOS TV the competition is about price and CONTENT they bring. TWC HD is crap compared to the HD offered with FIOS TV. Increased picture quality and more channels and honestly who cares about some of the HD channels TW is bringing to the lineup which are already being offered in Albany and Rochester.  They complain about bandwith yet still don't offer Cinemax HD or Starz HD. Those should be first on the list to add. FIOS TV is coming, just a matter of time and the agreement Verizon has with Direct TV is to offer choices but I believe once FIOS TV arrives the agreement with Direct TV is no longer on the table.  I can't wait for FIOS TV just the increased picture quality you can get for the same price as TWC makes it worth it to me.  TWC increasing its rates for DVR service is just the company seeking a way to increase their profit margins.  All we do is save shows to a Hard drive why we get charged $15 (equipment rental plus service fee) for this ability is beyond me.  And to use the excuse that the guide data cost a lot of money is equally dumb. I can get tv listing from TitanTV.com for free and it even looks better.  How would people feel if PC companies charged you to save files to your computer because essentially that is what your doing with the DVR. TWC has convinced people that it is acceptable to charge people a large fee to save files to a hard drive   I can understand the cost of fuel needs to be covered but as a company what is TWC doing to offset their fuel costs.  Are they trying to be more green and use alternative energy for there day to day operations? Centro has been testing alternative fuels why not outfit the cable trucks with biodiesel or something else. All in all I patiently wait for FIOS TV. I have enjoyed their Internet service for awile now and am amazed be the speed and reliability of it.

Go to FTA satellite and don't worry about paying a thing.  Its all free in this USA.  Over 6000 channels for you to view.  Use your digital rabit ears for locals.

I think Time Warner should reconsider the rate hike. There ae many people who will end up leaving them if the prices keep going up.  Everything sigoing up but salaries. People can only aofford so much.  Cable tv is not a necessity, so there are many people on fixed incomes who will not be able to afford it, as well as many one income households.  Somehow, comparing cable tv to groceries and heat. hmmm guess I will go for the groceries and heat

All of those who think that service and HD are free, think again - why do you think they keep raising the rates?  Let's face it, we are paying for it each and every month when we pay our bill.  And really, what kind of service do we get?  I have been put on hold by their automated system for over 30 mins because the customer service staff cannot keep up with the call volume.  Bottom line, they are the only cable company in town so they can basically do what they want to do and our only choice is to leave if we don't like it.

The person who posted that Dish Network is owned by Time warner was WRONG!! Dish network is owned by Echostar which is based in Littleton, CO. There is absolutely no association between Time Warner and Echostar!

You've got to be kidding.

With FIOS & DIRECTV I caught all the SU Hoops games this year.  Even the ones that were supposedly only on TW 26!  And to those of you who think that the dish shuts down during a snow fall, I can tell you I have not lost a signal at all this year!  How may times has your cable gone out? and more importantly, who much are you paying for a few HD channels?  I have over 90 on my TV!

I have seen all the Time Warner trucks out there in parking lots.  Sitting there with their engines running, keeping warm while they take a break.  Even the cops shut off their cars when they go in the donut shops.  
Hay Time Warner try this:
Use fewer trucks and get more productivity from the people you have out there on the road.  You would save money and not need to use gas as an excuse (the most popular one today) for yet another price increase.

I don't have a HD TV.  I guess I am paying for the people who do.  I end up with a price increase for channels I can't watch.  What a great deal.
