Better Music Player: Microsoft Zune or the New iPod

So, which one will be on your holiday shopping list this year? The Zune or the newest versions of the iPod.

I caught this article on the AP Wire Monday morning that said the 80-gigabyte version of the Zune media player that Microsoft launched last Tuesday has sold out across the Web, to the dismay of online shoppers and delight of the world's largest software maker.

iPod has not reported any shortages at this time?

So which media player is your favorite? Leave your comments below.

Neither of them.  Over the past 3 years, I've bought several MP3 players for myself and members of my family.  A Creative Zen player that's been working great for 2 years, a couple of 5GB RAVE players from GoVideo (since discontinued) that I got when CompUSA was closing down, and an 2GB RCA player that I picked up this summer.  The Zen was the only one I've paid over $100 for, and they all work and sound great without all the hype.

I've used both the Zune and the iPod, I definitely like the Zunes firmware on the player much better than the iPods, mostly because it isn't really plain, it's fast, the big display of the album art is sweet. The click wheel on the iPod is kinda annoying in my opinion, I've yet to use the new zune pad, but even if I didn't like it, atleast I can turn it off. Zune software is a bit lacking, but that should get improved greatly in the next year after they work out some bugs from the recent release. All together I would say the Zune is a much better player, but the software is lacking some features that iTunes has.

The ipod is more sturdy, easier to use, sets up with itunes nicely, and is a video powerhouse. Read commentaries on Zunes, most people think they are a joke....

I don't think that it matters if the iPod is in stock and the Zune sells out unless you take a look at the stock numbers of each product.  It's not hard to sell out of Zunes if you only manufactured 100 of them.

Come on, how can you not like the Ipod "Classic" and Apples stealing/taking a page from Coke classic, sheer genius.  The classic is yesterdays goods. How sad is it that Apple thinks so little of its fan base that they would re-release the same player 5.5 and 6 generation for their faithful followers.  Well for me, its out with the old and in with the new, my Zune 80 is a winner!
