Seneca Co. Sheriff, Undersheriff facing Multiple Charges

The Seneca County sheriff has been arraigned on perjury and official misconduct charges and his top deputy is facing charges he stole thousands of dollars worth of clothing, ammunition and other sheriff's department equipment.

Sheriff Leo Connolly, Undersheriff James Larson and four sheriff's deputies were indicted on various charges after a grand jury investigation into allegations of misconduct.

Ontario County District Attorney R. Michael Tantillo led the investigation that began after a fire destroyed evidence and a vehicle stored in the former Seneca Army Depot in 2006.

Tantillo says Connolly told Larson to find ways to retaliate against four people who criticized the sheriff on a political Web site.

cops have been abusing authority for along time in many ways,I see them talking on the phones driving, drinking and driving, speeding, being threating to others for no reason acting like they are above everyone, and getting away with it.There are many cops I've meet that are super people but I think there many criminals in the police force.I was dating a probation officer for along time and went to many fuctions with her.She was told in training to look away when other  law inforcements are doing wrong and don't rat on each other no matter what.I see it everyday young new cops are the worst when they get the job very arrigant. We need someone to watch the police but we'll get killed if we try to do something.

It is a shame when the moral integrity of elected officials (Sheriff) and public servants (Deputies) disgrace the office they hold. It is the belief of many citizens within Seneca County, there were other misdeeds. Who set the fire? What evidence was destroyed? What were the true motives? Are these crimes linked to other misdeeds which led to the resignation of the previous county manager? Besides improper record keeping and attempted bid rigging, are there links to other crimes. What was the relationship between the recent indictment of the Seneca County Republican Chairmen and the Sheriff's Department? Maybe we will find out. Maybe we will not!

It's about time every one else found out about the crap that has been going on at the sheriffs office.  What did you expect from a political crony of the "former" head of the Seneca County Republican Party? I doubt that any one of these accused criminals will ever serve any time in State prison.  We couldn't get that lucky.  Any one can go to fingerlakes1.com and see what has been written about the supposed misdeeds of the Sheriff and his buddys.  Then it just takes a little threat to get the web site to give up your real name so you can get harrased by the deputies for exercising your first amedment right of free speech.  Give it a couple of months and this whole thing will be swept under the rug.

corruption is nothing new  in this areas police force. yet we are the criminals in this police state of laws. how many more citizens have to die or be ripped off before we step up and stop this oppression. crime is triple from 5 years ago, these cops know who the criminals are but they do nothing because of fear of law suits with minorities.the whole system has to be rehauled; stop the bleeding for our good citizens; tell the police to represent us for a change.

Makes ya wonder about all the other Sheriffs Dept's. Let see what goes on in Oswego, Onondaga, Cayuga, Jefferson etc etc. There rae crooked cops everywhere they just havent been caught. This is off the beaten trail a little, but it also makes ya wonder about these BS License plate readers too. I had a trooper pull me over the other nite and tried to tell me I had no plates on the front of my vehicle. I told him there was and he argued for a minute, then he looked and he said he had no reason to pull me over and let me go. All these cops like to do is harass and abuse the system. But yet when we all do it, its against the law. Its about time some one catches up to these arrogant morons that supposedly abide by the law!!!!!

This is exactly why ALL cops are sub-human scum. I used to know many cops who would drive drunk after boozing it after their shift knowing that all they had to do was pull a badge if they got pulled over. I know it still happens today. In the past year we've seen a trooper drive recklessly at a high rate of speed to chase a motorcycle. Fortunately he killed only himself and not an innocent victim. Sadly, the guy on the motorcycle got boned and sent to prison becuase of the trooper's stupidity. Then this news channel had the nerve to air the troopers funeral because Dan and Danielle Cummings sleep with the bishop. In Cortland, a drunk cop who was text messaging a girl killed an innocent woman crossing the street. It's time citizens stood up to the cop scum and disobeyed them, ignored them, and opposed them in any way possible. It's time to stop these people who don't actually protect people, but instead violate the law just because they have a badge.  Stand up for yourself, people, stop recognizing cops "authority."

Gary,
Not all cops are that way.  Cops involved in ANYTHING illegal should be punished more that other citizens.  They are to protect people from illegal activity, not be responsible for breaking the law.  However, to put ALL cops in there is rather extreme.  yes there are corrupt cops, but not everyone is that way.  Overhaul the dept and get new officers.  Send the ones who broke the law away for a long time.

Now is the time for a revolution just to end all of the corruption I for one am really tired of it and today's judicial system just overlooks too much. We the little people need to speak out and be heard. If we the people let this continue what's next  where are all of our laws? What 's happening to our society? When does it end.

Maybe what this country needs is a revolution it might be the only way to be heard.

Who were the employees that received a free vacation at the expense of the Seneca County taxpayers? Will they be prosecuted and receive disciplinary action? The corruption in Seneca County has long been beyond just the Sheriff Dept. There are some good employees and that is evident by their courage to speak out regardless of the harassment they endured. It is sad so many are criticizing the whole department. Keep in mind that probably none of this ever would have been revealed if it weren't for the few honest employees who risked there job, reputation, health, etc. to protect the citizens of Seneca County from these corrupt people. It makes you wonder how many were involved and either got away with it or didn't do enough to face charges. Before you elect another sheriff, do your research or you will be facing the same situation all over again. How much did all this dishonesty cost each taxpayer including the investigation? I was a Seneca County taxpayer and would like to be reimbursed by these criminals.

I am NOT surprised that Scott Buck is involved in such an atrocity.  I know personally, what kind of person he is, and I am surpirsed that a man with such extreme substance abuse issues could become an officer of the law.  Is is customary to let ex-heroine/cocaine addicts become cops?  When I dated him in high-school, he threw me down a flight of stairs, told me that he was going to rape me, and put a gun to my head.
It was a night that I will never forget, and it took me years to process.  If his mother and stepfather hadn't of walked in the house at the time they did, there's no telling what could have happened to me.

Can't say I'm surprised that these "accused" criminals are back to work.  If any one of the tax paying public were charged with felonies, I bet your employer would dropp you so fast it would make your head spin.
When you're the lackey of the local Party "Boss Tweed", you get special treatment.
Just remember, these people are charged with retaliating against people that spoke out against them on another web site that freely gave up their names.  Will Channel 9 bend to the same tactics?  I hope not.

I was pulled over with a friend in Seneca Falls last month for speeding.  The cop made us wait about 15 minutes because the computers were down.  When he came back to the car he told me he was issuing me a warning, not a summons and to take it easy.  I thanked him and left.  Now I receive a notice in the mail that I did not appear for a court date.  When I had my local attorney look into it, he was told that I was issued a summons.  I can't believe this.  Does anyone know of a local Seneca Falls attorney who can help me.
Thanks
