Michael Vick Dogfighting Guilty Plea

Michael Vick entered a guilty plea to a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge this morning and will be sentenced for his crime on December 10th.

The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback issued a public apology for his "immature actions" shortly after leaving the court room in Richmond, Virginia

"I made a mistake in using bad judgment and making bad decisions," he said. "Dogfighting is a terrible thing." He concluded by saying, "I offer my deepest apologies to everyone. And I will redeem myself. I have to."

How much time should he receive in prison? Should be be allowed to play in the NFL again? Do you forgive him for what he did?  Leave your comments below...

Unfortunately, he probably will not serve prision time, because of who he is. He aplogizes now, and realizes he made a mistake????? what kind of an idiot is he that it took getting caught to realize dog fighting is animal abuse, and that  it is wrong. It is unfortunate that famous people do not receive the same criminal treatment that any joe schmo would receive just because they have money, and or they make money for someone else. That is a great role model for our children. We are so worried about our children seeing a cigerette add, but lets not worry about our children realizing as long as you have money, you can do whatever you want. That is something to think about. God will give justice in the end to all of those that bought their way on earth.

I think anyone who mistreats and animal for any reason should be punished.  I think he should be made to pay by working in an animal hospital and a shelter every free minute of his life.  He should continue to play but no spare time except in an animal environment, helping.

this clearly is a case of haneos activity by a man who had no regard for the laws of the land and his employers[nfl] . he was caught. no he apologises for every thing he has done, it was wrong ,he says, and he has turned to god. he will do everything he can to turn in evidence of others involved in this crime; loking for a reduction in prison sentence. if anybody believes the sincerity if his apology , then vick is playing you again, along with his race card lawyers. the man is a thugf from the streets. he was caught and his lawyers are spinning the truth and his future . i believe the [nfl] will not buy the bogus apology ; or turning rto god ; all criminals use the same ploy; thesew lawyers and vick are as transparent ashell. this thug should serve the full 6 years; and banned for 6 years if he follows the nfl guidelines of being a human being; it will never happen; vick will slip because hes evil and hes a racist and an animal hater . goodbye hip-hop badman; youll never make it back.

Vick claimed today in court -- "I want to apologize to all of the young kids out there for my immature acts. What I did was very immature, which means I need to grow up."

Immature?  He claims his deviant cruelty towards helpless creatures as immaturity?!    Whats immature of him is his belief that those words are an acceptable apology and he's going to redeem himself.  And the sudden finding of Jesus and religion supposedly is going to make him grow a halo around his head.

He needs to "grow up" somewhere in a prison cell for a very long time.  No more should society treat these prima donna sports stars as untouchables, no more worshiping at their hero altars just because they have a talent to win points in "the big game".

His lawyer claims he's an aberration and not the REAL Michael Vick and he hopes the judge will realize that fact.   Sorry Mr. Lawyer but your client will forever remain in people's minds as nothing more than a ghoulish murdering bully.

Absolutely nothing will redeem him in my mind EVER.

I can only pray that the judge in his case will not be able to be bought off.

I think what he did has terrible. He should recieve more than just a slap on the hand. In reality he will not get what any ordinary citizen would recieve for thiese acts. I don't fell he should be allowed to play football again and should have to give back the bonus 22 million he just recieved. Maybe if he didn't have all the big money protecting him he would realize just what he has done.

Why do they give this bum until Dec. 10th. before they through him in jail.  What they should do is put him in a pen with several of his dogs and save the taxpayers some money.

Dog fighting is quite possibly the most horrible thing you can do to an animal. Vick's involvment in it shows me what kind of a person he is. His appologizes mean nothing. They are being said on the advise of his lawyers. It will be interesting to see what his punishment is. It needs to be harsh enough to send a message to those who are still involved in the sport. It also needs to let the superstar know you can't getaway with a light sentence because of who you are. He should never be allowed to play football or any other proffesional sport for the rest of his life. I hope the falcons can recover from this and have a good season.

I believe he deserves whatever he gets, and his judge is reported to be a tough one and is not bound by his plea agreement with the prosecution so he could be in for a rough ride.  I also don't believe he is only guilty of the few charges he's plead to.  It's just another example of someone from simple beginnings who comes into too much fame and fortune too fast, and loses track of the rules of law and life.  If he never plays again it may be a waste of his talents, but it's nothing but his own doing.

Ya right hes not going to do any jail time. We found out a long time ago people with money and status don't get the same treatment as poor and unknown people. Face it, if he gets jail time he will do the minimum at most. celebrity's don't do the same jail time even if guilty.

Vick has now found Jesus so all his transgressions will be cleansed.  What a farce to allow this bum possibly as little as a year in prison for what he has done.  To equate dog fighting with hunting is absolutely insane.  Celebrity justice, you can't beat it, as long as you are the celebrity.

Does anyone out there really believe Vick gives a rats rump what they think? The guy is an animal himself and but for his "talent" probably wouldn't be able to afford one dog let alone dozens! His ability to play a stupid game outweighs any responsibility to act like a human being.

Forgive me if I vomit, because this pig nauseates me.  It's so easy to admit guilt after you've been caught.  Wasn't that big of him?  If he's so sorry, why doesn't he forfeit his millions for the aid of abused animals?  I have no patience for prima donnas who make money playing "games."  I'll bet he could never make it in a real job.  Celebrities and their ability to avoid REAL prosecution for breaking the laws are the lowest life form

I believe that Vick is sorry for 1 thing and 1 thing only and that is that he got caught. Everyone in prison gets "jail house religion". He better be glad that I am not the Judge because I would be more humane than he, I would slid the needle in the vein instead of electrocuting , drowning or beating him to death. This is just more proof that in this country if a person has money he thinks he can do anything and get by with it. I hope the Judge will treat him as he would any lower or middle class person.

No - Vick should not play again - sorry he is not a role model for our children.
As for getting religion - it is all well and good to forgive, but do not forget the sin.
He has a penance to do and may it justify the inhumane acts committed.

everyone commenting on this subject has made mistakes and didnt realize it til afterwards. the only reason this is so blown out of proportion is because he is famous . normal people who fight dogs get away with a small fine maybe a year in  jail (not prison) and can no longer have possession of that breed. why should his sentencing be so more harsh? and with this said let him do his year and no longer be able to have dogs. i honestly think he should be allowed to still be nfl eligable.
