Well, finally able to see where my hard earned tax dollars are going.  DOWN THE DRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!  Talk about cold, hard cash.  So many people are still homeless from Katrina.  Maybe we should move them to Alaska and build them igloos with the ice.

That 's the good old government organization doing a bang up job again! Why don't they donate it to someone. duh!  They are baking in the West with the high heat, send it out there.  Also they still have tons of trailers with no one living in them, hello what is happening with them.  WASTE is SO tragic to see.

another example of government misuse fo funds . think of the the children who are afflicted with terminal cancer ; nit could have been benefitial in their lives. the us government is a sad representation for the people. this paticular administration , when its evaluated will go down as the worst ever, and the seess of destruction have been sowed by bush. please tell me you people voted for bush; we need democratic representation in the presidencty to restore this fading country. i hope you wonderful people see the light now; you too [ josh]

Such a waste, why couldn't they at least give it away locally?

The ice that has put out to the curb should be donated. To all the people in the five counties that have flooded. Right about now it would have been a good idea to pass out the ice for people to use. In stead it has been put out to melt. It is definitly money washing down the drain.

Sunday 7/8 is supposed to be a high of 93.  I'd rather hear bags of ice being opened than fire hydrants being turned.

2 Useless organizations: FEMA and Homeland Security! Neither one has done it's job. They wanted to impeach Clinton years back for having a little on the job ____________. Bush has done worse, worse and worse all of his administration has dragged OUR country into a tangled mess which will take years and years for set right. Impeach Bush! Why have we americans in this country stood by, complaining day after day and done nothing? I am for one, totally disgusted and fed up!

Would you be complaining if the ice was needed and had not been ordered?  I guess yes. I would rather have had the ice ordered and not needed  than not having it available if it was needed.

Yeah, right. Just like all the 'mobile/home/trailers FEMA have sitting collecting dust which were promised to the poor folks after Katrina ~~!!!!! Who do you suppose bought those? Where are they now-certainly not filled with happy folks who needed them. Lets keep seeing our military being blown up daily -our tax payer dollars at work there too. Bring them home, get rid of the BUSH problem. Let Iraq fend for itself, they hate us anyway, proof is in the pudding. Our country is officially now in the toilet,
maybe some of that melted, wasted ice will help and create a big flush.

Be happy.  We are not paying freight cost to send it some place for proper disposal.  Nobody in FEMA has a friend in the shipping business.

WHAT TO DO WITH ICE?

Well......
SELL it to fairs and social events..... [DUNK THE PERSON = in a few bags of ICE to make the water really cold]
CATCH = try and catch ice cubes and not baseballs instead..... The persons who [after paying a fee] happens to catch the very slippery ice cube gets a few prizes....

DONATE TO THE POOR = Poor people need a cheap way to cut down on using loads of power to keep their cold beer, soda cold and still not use up all the power needed for AIR-CONDITIONERS.....

SELL TO PRIVATE PARTIES = makes a nice way to keep their party beverages cold during an all day summer party / birthday fest....


SO THE IDEA HERE IS TO RE-COUP SOME OF THE $$$$ SPENT A LITTLE FOOLISHLY.....

SELL TO A FEW MOVIE PRODUCERS.....

CNY FREAK WINTER BLAST on the 4th day of JULY.... complete with ICE and [you can make fast looking SNOW from fine crushed ICE]
and waht a box office smash that would make for Syracuse, NY = a few million bags of ICE for a FICTIONAL weather disaster in Syracuse.....

Like others have said: If they hadn't bough the ice, folks would be complaining.

And besides--how long is ice good for? I mean, really? Frozen food is good for so long, ice cubes in the freezer are good for so long.

I'd rather see them dump it, then spend money warehousing useless ice.

To the folks complaining about a non-issue: I hope FEMA will accept phone calls so they can deliver ice to your house. How many tons do you want?

Why is it that the ice had to put out and melted?  It's not like we aren't going to get another storm somewhere in this country!  This would just be our grand government at work again, we have to waste money to make things make sense.  We drove by the warehouse the other day and what a mess bags blowing everywhere, doesn't that mean that FEMA should be charged with littering.
