Well said Dan...unfortunately it seems house parties will always be a 'fact of life' in high school, but parents should understand that the 5 minutes it takes so make a phone call or send an e-mail to the owners of the party house can at least prevent this from happening to their child, if not keep other children safer...it seems almost too easy.

All the best to those involved, particularly the young lady. She and her classmates will learn a tough, embarassing lesson, but be better off for it as they head into their college years.

I am just wondering why there was not much said in the news about this. We are only hearing the rumors that are spread through kids. Is it because CBA parents are hushing it up? By the way, Alex, if you are a CBA student, your parents wasted a lot of money on your education. Just a quick look at your email shows you did not learn much about grammar and spelling. If not a CBA student, maybe your parents aught to invest in a little tutoring in English.

Please take the time it takes to call the other parents if you know about parties or get togethers... I do this and even though it makes me unpopular with my son and his friends, I will continue to do so.. as I told my son, "I'm your parent, not your friend" and this is the not so fun part of the job.
and keep these kids in our prayers....

this state is closely resembling a facist state and an oligarchy ; high taxes ,85 percent higher than 48 of the other states. more4 resticting laws in every facet of living and law. with this being said, we are being driven to remain in our homes[if we can afford them], ussr and berlin come to mind; now underage drinking isnt a good thing ,but the growth of teenagers always includes some dangerous activities., to a degree, and to lessen the consequences and danger letting kids drink in their own homes is the lesser of two evils. it wont be long before the state and government will be telling you and monitoring your activities in your own house. and OBAMA is not the answer but will present another major problem in dociety. already the horrific effect of his candacy is taking root. certain minoritys are already showing signs of we own this country , we will do anything we want and you cant stop us. teenage drinking in the suburbs is an issue, but look in your inner cities; crimes; violent and burglrys are up 60 percent and rising since obama coronation from a sick and socilly deleted democratic party ; push for clinton ; if not we have to settle for mccain ; and a real life depression,which beats chaos and racial crimes and the destruction of good humanity.

It is funny how this story did not make headlines until 5 days after it happened. I'm sure the parents of the students involved are doing everything in their power to make this go away. They believe money makes boo..boo's all better. WAKE UP CBA PARENTS. You disgust me!! I attended a spoting event were CBA was visiting, and couldn't believe how rude and obnoxious the PARENTS were. It is unfortunate what happened to this girl, but when she chose to go to this party I'm sure she told herself "what could possibly happen". Now she is probably disfigured for life. Was it worth the price?? Was it worth the price of missing your high school graduation?? Also, those who hosted the party and provided alcohol, you will probably just receive a slap on the hand, if that. You should serve a one year jail sentence and 500 hours community service. But of course, Mommy and Daddy will buy your attorney off and make it all go away.

This is a very sad story and it is terrible what has happened to the teenage girl that is involved here. I don't think its relevant to point out the economic status of anyone involved. That has no bearing what happened here. Parties happen all the time, and many times they come and go and nothing happens to anyone and the party is forgotten about when the next one happens. Its just sad to see that this girl was acting like a normal high school/teenager and this terrible thing had to happen.

Also as far as for the people (Anonymous, Alex Ford, Yowzers) Its actually quite amazing that you people are arguing and fighting with one another about typos, and the literacy of one another when that has no bearing on this discussion. You should be ashamed!!!

I bet you that if this sort of thing happened at Fayetteville Manlius High School, it would have been all over the news. Any bad thing that happens at that school seems to be overpublicized, it's like the media is waiting for that school to fall; for instance, the tragedy that happened with Kevin Goich and Josh Davis, it was EVERYWHERE for weeks. Grieving students, me being one of them, could not have a moment of peace to mourn the loss of such great companions without people talking *** about what happened to them.

I live in a county north of here. It doesn't matter what school a kid goes to up here-if they are busted with alcohol-they are busted. So this kid goes to CBA-so what! If they went to a smaller school, same thing could have happened. Don't give me the line that this was not put in the news because the CBA parents tried to cover it up. And if this happened at F-M, it may have been on the news depending on if it got out and when.

Point is this: You have kids having an alcohol party when they are underage. There is also no one home when these kids are having this party with alcoholic beverages. Finally, someone got hurt because these kids did something dumb-and now they are learning the lesson from their actions.

Oh by the way-up where I live, we had kids who decided to have a party with alcohol one Saturday evening. Kids ran fast when an adult came and broke up the party. Two boys at the party (who came under the influence) got in a car and drove away. They crashed and are dead now. In all cases, the kids did something wrong. In the first case, the girl went to a party and got hurt-she might be disfigured for life. In the second case, two boys went to a party-they never will see family and friends again.

Why is it that people just love to bash CBA? Ludden and Grimes are private schools and cost almost as much, but you never hear any bashing and YES this stuff happens within those private schools as well! Are the bashers so filled with jealousy? Many parents at CBA are not wealthy. There are several reasons why kids end up at CBA and it isn't all because the parents can afford it. If everyone would just really think about what they are saying before speaking - the world could begin to heal. The issue at hand is there was an underage drinking party and a terrible accident occurred at it. This happens everywhere - bad choices are made by everyone from all soci-economic, educational, racial and financial backgrounds. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that when a tragedy happens such as this, rather that all the hate and bashing we need to come together and communicate to prevent this from happening again. We all learn from our mistakes and as adults and parents WE are the ones who set the examples our children live by.

Basically speaking, quit blaming the kids...if you have teens, i'm sure you've met the parents who don't know where or what their teens are doing...blame them....when is the last time you heard a parent say"look at what we did as kids"..now isn't that smart..recently, in our town a teenager was arrested for drugs and weapons...it was a common hangout for many, many teenagers from many different groups...the guns found at this house could have killed many kids with just one round...guess what? last I heard, the kids are back hanging out there...imagine that!!!parents have been warned and they just don't care...underage drinking will always be around until we get smart and lower the drinking age..what authorities fail to tell you when they say that alcohol related deaths have decreased since they raised the drinking age to 21 is that cars are now safer and they also fail to tell you how many underage kids die at college from alcohol poisoining or in alcohol related instances like the girls in Cazenovia....get these kids out of the closets and their parents head out of the sand!!!!!!
