The True Meaning of Memorial Day

Post by Rod Wood- Monday, May 26th we observe Memorial Day.

For some, it's just another holiday.

But all of us should take a moment to remember Memorial Day's true meaning.
It's a day to remember those who have died in service to our nation.

Perhaps there's someone in your family or maybe a friend who made the supreme sacrifice.
You might want to take a moment to honor the memory of that person during your family's holiday gathering...in some cases, a visit to the cemetery.

All of us should remember that we live in a free nation today because of their sacrifice.
God bless all of those who have served our nation.....God bless America.

Thank you for reminding us of what Memorial Day is really all about and yes, it is a day to remember those who have died in service to our nation.
Those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice did so for the cause of freedom; that we might enjoy our lives and the freedoms we have been blessed with.
Please take time to attend a Memorial Day ceremony and/or parade in your community and honor our fallen heroes.
Enjoy the day, but please remember those who have willingly given so much for our sake.
We honor and remember our son, Sgt. Eli Parker USMC who bravely served his country and gave his life in Iraq on May 4, 2006.
Thank you Eli.

Memorial Day has become just another excuse for stores to have big sales.  For too many people, it's just a 3 day weekend and a day off from work.  We need to stop and remember our brave soldiers and loved ones.  I spent Sunday afternoon putting flowers at 3 cemeterys for family members.
