Feedback Wanted: 9wsyr.com Video

Hello Everyone.  Once again, we're looking for feeback to enhance your experience on 9wsyr.com.  We're trying to make our video easier to locate.  Right now you have several options, but we'd like to learn more about how you navigate 9wsyr.com.

It seems pretty easy when it's attached to a story in the top stories section.

But if not, do you click on "video" in the top horizontal menu bar which takes you to the "media center"?

Do you use the flash video player on the home page?

If so, have you accessed the individual categories at the bottom?

We'd love to get your suggestions.

Also, we are aware that some of you are having trouble with the load time of the home page player, and we are trying to track down the problem.  So please let us know if it gets better or worse.

Thanks as always for your thoughts.  We truly value your feedback.  If you're uncomfortable responding to this blog, feel free to e-mail thewebunit@9wsyr.com

Jim Tortora, Director of News & Content.

Helpful hint: In case you didn't know it was available, you CAN search video by keywords.  Right under the 9wsyr.com header use the dropdown in the google search bar and select "search video".

I don't click on any video.  I know that it will result in some advertisement or other information I don't need or want before I get to actually see the video.  I get more than enough commercials when I watch TV.  It would be nice to not have them shoved in my face every time I use the net.

I agree - the first thing taht always pops up is a loud video ad.  I have to wait for the real video, and I seldom do.

I use the video option next to the top story. When ever I come on your homepage and error message comes off and kicks me off the internet. I don't know what causes it.

Unfortunately, internet ads are one of the few ways that news organizations can justify having an online presence. I'd guess the ads are paying for the upkeep and maintenance of this website, but little more. That's just the state of online news right now. I doubt they're going away anytime soon.

Anyway, I do watch the video occasionally, but a lot of the time I am on 9wsyr for my "quick fix" of local news (I moved to Boston for college, but like to know what's going on back home.) So if there's a link to video in the "Top Stories" section, chances are I'm not going to bother with it. I'll just read the story. The Flash player on the home page is a nice feature, though, and I find myself using that when I do decide to check out the video.

Hope this helps you out!

foolish me, I'd click on a video, wait for it to open & instantly get disgusted that I'd fallen prey to another garbage advertisment....never, ever again....so don't get rid of that *** for this kid...I'm not looking anyway....

I think the advertisment for Carsoup is annoying. I dont click on the videos to have an advertisment and I think it needs to be done away with altogether. I personally think that there needs to be updated weather every couple of hours on the weekends and nore news as well. I get disgusted on the weekends because the news is too early at 7am and it should be on again at 9 or 10am as well or even better yet at Noon on Saturday and Sunday because most people need to know what is going on. Thank you Adam

The Video advertisements are way to annoying to even consider watching the video stories. There are absolutely too many advertisements on their website altogether. Pop unders are being used now so after you leave you have more windows to close. If they need this many ads they should scale back the web site to reduce costs..

Get the Bloomberg video out of the consumer reports pages! Nothing is more annoying than having that automatically start when I'm reading a story.
