Two Important Recent Speeches

I'm going to give you a break from my take this week, and instead make a suggestion:  find an hour or so sometime in the next few days, and watch two speeches that made news this past week.  You'll find both on our website.

First, Governor David Paterson's speech in Albany...delivered immediately after taking the oath of office on Monday, March 17.  (click here to watch)

Second, Senator Barack Obama's address in Philadelphia on Wednesday, March 19.  (Click here to watch)

Sometimes, you simply must watch and listen to ALL of what someone has to say on a given day...in order to take a measure of a man or woman's position...and where they're coming from.   News coverage, no matter how in-depth, often doesn't even come close to reflecting a full dose of reality.  Besides, by taking the time to watch and listen yourself...you become your own editor, your own journalist...at least on that subject for that day.

Governor Paterson's speech came at a critical moment of transition of power in state government...in the wake of a sudden scandal.   Senator Obama's speech came at a critical moment in his campaign for President...his topic was race relations in America.

Both speeches, in my opinion, are worth your time.  I'd also love to hear what you think, after watching and listening to them.

Since you won't do a report on my being arrested for a threat to President George W. Bush and William Jefferson Clinton; You are the accusers of the brethren, for making a graven image unto the beast (Thee).  That means your staff is suicidal, because they're supposed to get killed. Thou shall not steal my identity! The accusers of the brethren are the terrorists! I'm just being myself. Don't you go on dreaming that President Bush decides my descisions, because I'm investigating him and his administration. You'd be aiding a felon. How can you be so racist and dream that you're even Christians, because your staff won't interview The President Of The World, for The New World Order. I'm The World Government, that's above the law? I'm The Lawless One Or The Man Of Sin. I'm a strong delusion, that God will send. The delusion is that I'm never God the Creator in Heaven, which the United States Of America's Government is endowed by.  My description has a mole like sack on my left side of my head, with a penny slot like birthmark on the top of my head. I'm an African American of Anglo-Saxon descent. The angelic realm praises the Lord for the destruction of a system that originated in a fallen angel, Satan, so stop dream of your CPEP ***! Wow, Victor Charles, that must have been some batch of mushrooms :o)

As to the topic, I found Gov Patterson's speech refreshing, as he recognizes that government must be cooperative to be successful.  That cooperation has been sadly lacking in Albany for as long as I can remember.  I hope that he can maintain that spirit for the remainder of his term.  This year's budget process might give some indication of his ability to do so.  Hopefully, the media's insistence on digging into his LEGAL personal behavior will not derail the political process from following a path that benefits the entire state.

As for Sen Obama, I found it sad that it was even necessary for him to address the racial issue in the 21st century, but whether we admit it or not, racism still simmers in the good ol' U.S of A...and on both sides of the debate.  I know a few "white people" who still resent anyone other than someone of northern European descent even existing within our boundaries, and I have observed a few "black people" who issue the wolf cry of "Racism" every time someone "of color" is involved in any public event.  I've seen it here in the blogs, on TV, and in print. Sadly, both his skin color and his name will continue to exert friction on whatever path he tries to move.

hello facefurney, how are you today. ill take some mushroomsif you have any. pattersons speach is inspiring. unfortunatley, what followed has negated anything he said.numerous affairs, drugs, spending of taxes for personal use; a new election is in order. thi mans qualifications are trepid and race oriented; where he was a rep of the area. his views from the past are liberal slanted toward handouts for the minorities  and lax in law and order; especially dealing with minority criminals. obama is a muslim ;converted to baptist when he ran for president and now changing to anything that wont offend the centrist of america. loius farakhan is a cllose associate and adfviser but he keeps that out of his campaign. his take non the founding fathers is totally a false hood based on what hes stood for all his life.MUSLIM- FARAKHAN.  the founding fathers and the constitution was a great document for democracy; but there initial intentions didnt include him ; his best bet is to continue to rely on anti-clinton remarks, black racistscaucus, and stupid people that have no idea about life and government.
