Super Tuesday Voter Turnout

Post by Dan Cummings - If nothing else catches your attention this week, I hope this does:  Speaking of Democrats ONLY, something on the order of 36 thousand registered voters turned out for Tuesday's Presidential primary in Onondaga County.  That's by far, the largest primary turnout in at least 16 years.  It doubles the next-best recent showing, back in 1992.   While it still represents less than half the number of enrolled Democrats, it is a very encouraging sign for our democracy.

The race for the White House is wide open, interest in the election within both major parties and among independent voters is high, and by most standards, Republicans and Democrats have come up with a quality raft of candidates...now being whittled down to 2 or 3.

Maybe you missed your opportunity to participate this week, either because you are not enrolled in either major party, or couldn't make it to the polls for one reason or another.  Perhaps you are not registered to vote, or have moved recently.   You'll have plenty of time to get registered for the general election in November.

You may or may not be interested to hear that some of would like to read the Republican ONLY turn out numbers. This is why you will always be labeled the biased liberal media.

Exactly right, Cliff. Believe it or not, there ARE Republicans in NY! I find your little piece about the Democrat turn-out insulting. How about an overall picture of VOTER turn-out??
