Posted by Dan Cummings - Today, or at some point during this holiday season, as you count your own blessings...give a thought and a prayer, please, to the Peek family of Camillus. 5 year old Sarah Peek has pulmonary hypertension, very rare for a child. It threatens her life. And yet, in the middle of this ongoing struggle, Sarah smiles and doles out kisses to mom and dad...like any other 5 year old. She plays her video game and shows a visitor her train collection. (I invite you to read the full story and view the video here on our website. And click the link to learn more about this disease. November is Pulmonary Hypertension awareness month).
I had the opportunity to meet Sarah and her family, when I reported her story this week. I left their home almost speechless. And grateful...for a life lesson about strength and courage in the face of adversity.
Sarah's dad, Dave Peek, says, looking back on the past several years: “I had totally different dreams and visions. And, my dreams and visions now are greater than I ever could have imagined.” With that, he returned another one of Sarah's smiles and kisses.
